I would say go 4 the shooting star first. When I got my first tattoo I had my tattoo artist take a piece fof carbon paper and tape it to the spot where I thought I might like to have it then trace it onto my skin. I changed my mind and the tattoo about 3 or 4 times before I found the right one and the proper place on my body 32 put it. REMEMBER, its PERMANENT!!Thats like FOREVER ya know what I mean?!Its ok by the way, to change your mind , just make sure that you are happy with what u have chosen, and its a good idea for what ever it is that you do decide to pick to have some kind of a significance and mean something 2 you.

Get the shooting stars. But dont get just a couple of plain stars. Get some good detailed stars. As many as you can afford to get. You can do alot with that later in life should you decide to. Your zodiac is not only quite common, but there arent a whole lot of things that go well with it. If you ever decide to do a full leg piece, then your zodiac will be that one oddball tattoo. Start with the stars. Find a good shop and be prepared to spend some money, cause if you get a good deal on it, your most likely get a bad tattoo. Cheap tats arent good and good tats arent cheap. Do the whole black starry night background around it. You can do tons of cool themes later in life with that.
BTW, those of you who are saying she is damaging or poisoning their body are full of crap. I am a professional tattoo artist. Every thing we use is completely sanitary. If properly done by a professional (as opposed to some punk in a basement with a homemade machine) the chance of damage to the skin is pretty slim. And the only damage that could occur is some slight scarring which will be hidden in lines and never even noticed by anyone not in the profession. Our ink is completely sanitary. Any of you who say you wont, dont know what the hell you are talking about. Professional Tattoo ink is so harmless that you can drink it and all that will happen is you will crap colored turds for a couple of days. I have seen it happen. Bottom line, you get it done by some guy in a basement with a guitar string, then yeah, your gonna get a f-ed up tattoo with all kinds of scarring and crappy lines. You get it done by a reputable shop and make sure that they open their tubes and needles in front of you and showing you the arrows (or blue dot), using gloves, and has an outoclave (NOT A PRESSURE COOKER) then you will end up with very minimal, non apperant skin damage and a tattoo that will look beautiful and you will be proud to show off. Get your dream tattoo and do it big. Don't get something that you will be covering up is a couple of years when you have outgrown it and its faded.

I love how people try and talk you out of getting something done as if your really going to listen to a bunch of people on yahoo answers. and I'm pretty sure you already know its perminant since you dont seem to be a moron. I would suggest getting the shooting star tattoo first. the tattoo on my hip hurt the least of all my tattoos and its the easiest one to cover up if I want to. once your used to having that one I would move on to the zodiac sign. I only say this because you said youve always wanted the shooting star so its like youve but alot of thought into that one. the zodiac sign thing sounds cool, but that one seems to be something you decided on since your boyfriend had it done so I would think about that one a bit longer. good luck!

go for the hip bone first...get the tatt. you have always wanted...then keep it for at least 6 months before getting another one...this will let you get used to having it on your body....
you need to decide if the thigh thing is something you really want or something you really like....there is a difference, and always remember ...things come and go..the whole zodiac thing is a fad...nobody wears the shirts, or carries the funky little key chains anymore, so that must be a sign it is going out....if you really want to incorporate your sign, try something timeless like a sunflower with your symbol in the center, or possibly placing your symbol inside of the shooting star...(since your zodiac has a lot of relevancy to your stars....hmm.....that a damn good idea! i might do that myself! lol
really though, just give it a-lot of thought. and always do what you want first!

I think you are getting a tattoo for the wrong reasons. I have several tattoos and each one means something. Dont get a tattoo to be trendy get a tattoo that means somethign or defines you . You will regret a shooting star or zodiac sign.. They are so common. Be original is my only adivce.

If you are unsure then you shouldn't be getting it. All of my tattoos are original. I don't think you should get a tattoo because you liked it on someone else. if you get one it should mean something to you. also placement is very important. If you get something that looked good on someone else in that spot, you might not like it on yourself. try getting a temporary one of what you think you want and put them where you think they will look good. you might be surprised.

get what you've always wanted. you and your boyfriend are going to break up sooner or later and the last you want is a tat that reminds you of him everytime you look at it.
