I want a bi-level haircut, but do not want to make it like a bad mullet or super scene, but sleek &rocker?

How do I achieve this ? Hair products/methods/ anything else?
It's hard to find pictures that aren't scary looking. If you have them, post decent-sized pictures that show the cut and layers that i cna take to my stylist- (most of the ones I've found have been bad myspace-esque pictures)

I have wavy& curly hair but I usually straighten it.
