I liked it so much the first visit, I moved to Costa Rica 10 years ago and have no intention of leaving.

I agree with 'tica' up there! I have been to Guatemala with my husband, and we are moving there in just over one month!
It is totally gorgeous! The people are extremely friendly and hospitable.
Their driving scares the living daylights out of me (whatever those are?)! And there are many weather issues to be concerned with.
It really makes the time more enjoyable, and down right fun, if you can speak the language. My husband's town speaks a Mayan dialect, and I am clueless, but I've learned a little Spanish and many speak Spanish there. On my first visit, I didn't know any, and it was miserable.
In the words of a Canadian I met that lives there:
It is scary your first time, and then you get used to it.
And she was right! It's the initial shock that gets ya, but when you get used to it, it is a wonderful place!

I've never been to Central America, hopefully one day I will and that I'll LOVE it.
