My son always seems to start coughing after running for a while or some similar activity. Does this signify some ailment, or is this normal?

If he is doing alot of running or over exerting then it may just be from that but if he just runs 20 feet or so then it could be asthma problems.

As others have said, it sounds like asthma. However it happens to me and I do not have asthma; I have allergies and when they are bothering me physical activity really sets off the coughing.

Have your son checked by a doctor. If you don't have insurance, the testing for asthma is not very expensive. The medication can be expensive though. He may just need to use an inhaler before (and perhaps after) physical activity. My nephew outgrew his after the age of 12.

Yeah
that happens to me and i had asthma
if he doesnt get attacks often it probably just a seasonal thing but physical activities causes coughing
really it doesnt hurt anything but its a minor annoyance

He may have exercise induced asthma. Take him to the doctor to get it checked out. Good luck. My daughter has asthma.

I'd say you better get him checked for breathing problems if the coughing is bad becasue that isn't normal.
