I assume you are talking about your back muscles when you mention a "V" shape?

Long pulley row
Lat pull downs
Bent row
One arm row
Chin ups
Dumbbell/barbell pullovers,etc.

These days there are all sorts of back machines at your local gym. The gym I belong to has a section of machines just for back muscles.

If you don't belong to a gym, chins and push ups are your best bet.

Ab work...crunches, twists, leg raises.etc.
