Not that anyone really wants to die, but in the end, if you have some notice that you are dying, and have the opportunity to more or less know when you have days left, would it be exciting as well as sad/scary? I mean sometimes I think about way down the road in my life when I'm about to die how exciting it might be to know that i'm about to step into the "other side" and maybe finally get some answers to some of the questions that haunt people through their lives, like the truth about religion, life, etc.... I can see it being exciting with anticipation if you live a good life and prepare mentally for the moment.

Greetings!

I would suggest that death means different things to different people.

To atheists, I would wager, death would be deeply terrifying. I, as a previously devout atheist, would often spend lonely hours before sleep pondering what it meant to suddenly not exist. I rationalize that it didn't hurt not existing before I existed, so I suppose death can't be all bad, but it still terrified me.

To an agnostic I suppose it could be a curiousity. "Well, I guess we'll see who's right!" And I have a feeling that perhaps you fall into this camp.

To the Christian, however, the idea of death, while not something to be rushed into, is not at all a bad thing. In fact, as I have witnessed people around me die, I have felt peace in my heart knowing that they are going to be with the Lord, to live eternally on a new earth. However, there is something very terrifying about death to a Christian: the death of a non-Christian. Those who die, having known about the saving power of Jesus Christ but rejecting it or ignoring it or adopting a wait-and-see attitude, are going to face eternity seperated from God. And while that might not seem too terrible to someone who doesn't quite believe in Him or rejects Him completely, I promise you, on the authority of scripture, that you will not enjoy that eternity one bit. Its a literal Hell.

Matthew 13:42

42They will throw them into the fiery furnace, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

many die of old age and fade away very slowly without emotion or excitement . an untimely death by trauma like a shark attack for instance is shocking and very emotional but as quick as it comes I would doubt if many would look on with
fascination and excitement as you describe but with fear regret and dismay.
peace

I agree with you. If you're ready and have clean hands and a good heart, it should be exciting and nothing to be feared. Especially if you have loved ones waiting there to see you again.

I can understand that. A little scary as well, but most exciting things are.

Sorry there are no answers on the other side. At least there are answers on this side even if most of them are wrong.

I don't fear death.

Because I know who I'm going to see and be with, and I know EXACTLY where I'm going.
