No, they are still waiting on the Messiah, because they believe that Jesus did not set up a govermental type system like that of King David. The Messiah was not supposed to die, the Messiah was only supposed to appear once, the Messiah was also to relieve the Jewish people from captivity of the Romans. I studied Judaism, it is a wonderful religion filled with powerful rituals.

Some people call Jews who accept Jesus "messianic Jews." Some orthodox (believing) Jews are still waiting for the messiah.

There are a lot of reasons why the Jews are still waiting. The "standard answer" is that the Jews were expecting the messiah to overthrow the tyrannical rule of Rome (for example) and restore Israel to its former glory (as in the days of King Solomon).

Christians believe that Israel will be restored to its former glory, but at the end of time. Christians would point out the prophecy related to the messiah that refers to him as a "suffering servant" (especially in the book of Isaiah) and that it was necessary for the messiah to suffer and die, as Christ did during the Passion and the Crucifixion.

The Jews of Jesus day were looking for a worldly king, one that would bring them mundane freedom and riches. So yes, many Jews are waiting for that savior and king. But there are also those considered Converted Jews who are Jewish by birth but do not practice the Jewish religion and instead believe and accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior.

Most Jews accept that Jesus actually lived, but do not accept that he was the Messiah. Many fans of Monty Python think Brian was the Messiah

It seems that the Jews of the first century expected the Messiah to free them from Roman tyranny. When the Messiah came and did not do this for them, they did not believe that Jesus was their saviour. So, they kept looking. I don't know what modern Jews believe.

Some do and some don't.

The ones who have accepted Him (myself, for example) believe He has fulfilled every prophecy of the promised Messiah.

Those who have not accepted Him have many reasons why they have not. For one, historically, many people who have called themselves Christians, but who actually were not, have killed many Jews in Jesus' name... had they have actually been Christians, they would have known of God's love for His people and would not have laid a finger on them.

Hitler killed in Jesus' name, and the Crusades were carried out in Jesus' name.

To this I would refer back to the Son of Sam killer. He killed in his dog, Sam's, name. Who was at fault for killing, though? The dog? No, the schmuck who did the killing.

Some Jewish people simply haven't accepted Jesus, because they also reject God and are atheists (like many of my relatives).

I would say the main reason many Jewish people reject Jesus as Messiah is that historically, the actions of many false Christians have cast a shadow on the name and person of Jesus in the eyes of those He came to save.
