One who claims to be Christian should think twice about listening to any music that is not uplifting and positive. If rap crap and other so-called music doesn't make you feel good, ditch it. But there is a lot of non-Christian music that is great!
It may not necessarily be a SIN to listen to screaming music or raunchy lyrics, but it's a bad choice if it influences (in a bad way) your mind, thoughts, moods, desires, emotions, etc.

Well considering that Linkin Park has some swearing, I don't think that is a thing a Christian could defend. I used to be into a lot of non-Christian music.... Rob Zombie, Rage Against the Machine, Metallica, Audioslave, Led Zeppelin etc. I realized though that Christian bands are just as good or better. And many Christian bands may not have obviously Christian lyrics, but at concerts between the songs they continually talk about Christ.

I am a Christian Pastor, and I will vote *NO* it is not a sin (with exceptions).....
1. I love many of the oldies from the 30's all the way up (not to much of todays music to I like.
2. For the same reason I love many of the Old movies and many of todays movies. (there are old movies that I won't watch, because of the story line not the language).
3. But many I will not listen to or watch for the simple reason of the words and some of the shots they put into the movies.
i.e.. I love the movie "50 first dates" it really touched my heart, BUT! because of the nasty jokes and some of the implacations they put into it I can not share it with others for fear of becoming a stubling block to their faith so therefore I do not have that movie in my "little" library.
The songs and movies that have nasty meanings (not just non-Christian) I do not watch or listen to.
If you are a Christian just make sure you know what the song is saying and not just listening to the rythem.

Sin means "missing God's mark". What do you think? I try to listen to only Christian music. There is so much good Christian music to choose from these days. Not necessarily on the radio. You may have to purchase some Cd's but it's worth it. If you quit listening to secular music for a while, when you go back to it it's kind of like eating too much greasy fried food after eating healthy. You won't like it anymore. I won't say that it is necessarily a sin but be careful when listening to it because so much of it is full of ungodliness, and we are supposed to guard our hearts and minds.God bless!!!

It's spiritually unhealthy for you to listen to anything with 1) sexual lyrics 2)angst/anger/misery (either by way of sound or lyrics). There are some songs that are filled with dispair, and that can encourage depression or suicide. Songs that have anger (again, not just lyrics, but also by sound) cannot be good for the soul either. Stay away from unhealthy expressions/sounds/lyrics of certain emotions or messages. It's really, really unhealthy, and in many cases, CAN actually be a sin to listen to. Music is very powerful; more powerful than words, imho. So take care of the music that you allow to effect your soul.

I think that what really matters is what you believe. Oh so many people are too busy worrying about what others might think of there beliefs that they fail to believe anything. Sin in Hebrew is het. It simply means miss! You are either in sync with GOD's energy or you are not. (Miss) If the music makes you feel uncomfortable then don't listen to it. You have a personal relationship with GOD and your soul has an agenda. Keep in mind that all things were created by GOD and there is nothing that is that was not created by GOD. He is not bound to a dualistic sense of reality but in order for us as experiencing souls to know love we must understand its opposite first.

I listen to all different kinds of music. Except rap and that's just because much of it offends my sensibilities. I like Christian rock like Jars of Clay, I like country music especially anything Hank Jr.,Tim McGraw, Big & Rich, Trace Adkins, and Toby Keith. I also love old rock like Boston, Journey, Styx, Credence Clear Water, REO, The Stones, and I like the blues. It's not a sin to listen to other types of music.

Not really because listing to cristian music is good and cool and listing to non cristian music is also not bad because it opens your mind to many different points of views and exposes you to isssues that affect us in every day life and listing to Linkin Park is not a bad thing at all because there are worst

No, it's not a sin. If your music has cuss words, talks about sex or goes against God, it's not a sin even then. But the Bible does say "Avoid even the appearance of evil". If the Holy Spirit convicts you for listening to it, then don't.

No. The reason I like to listen to Christian music is because it gets me centered on God and I like to sing and hear music about my savior, but it is not a sin to listen to other music. Just be careful what you allow into your heart, because that is where Jesus resides.
