Yes...Without a doubt a child is an investment. A good parent should invest , love, time, support, money and millions of other little things into a child. To ensure that child is a productive, well educated and happy person. And with any investment a person should see a gain. The gain here would be making the world and society just a little bit better.

Rule of thumb on raising children: If your child does not surpass your status in life be it monetary, education level or quality of life you have failed as a parent.

Children are people who do not ask to be brought into this world. Having a child is an awesome responsibility that doesn't just require money-- but love, discipline, security, and a consistent caregiver(s). If parents viewed their children as investments, they would treat their children as they "owed" them something back when the children didn't even ask to be alive.

I am not saying to have a child without considering the financial ramifications. But having a child isn't the only way to "invest" lots of money, and children shouldn't be viewed as something you have to put lots of money into or see as "throwing money away". Because if you do, do not be a parent, do everyone a favor and keep your zipper up.

You obviously don't have kids. Investments are monetary deposits which you gain interest on and receive a dividend from. Children are beautiful, frustrating, hilarious, time-consuming little creatures that you deposit money into... and keep depositing money into.. forever.

Because you WANT to. Not because you expect to ever get it back.

A child is not a piece of property that rises or falls in value - a child is not an investment.

On the other hand, you can invest in your child, your love, your compassion, your concern, your moreal & values...etc.

I don't see why not....doesn't bother me ...as long as they are investing ...unconditional love , discipline , moral support , personal time, finical support...and all the other little things we take for granted that they do...I over heard my dad and mom once ...when they were talking about my 2nd older brother going to collage...there were in the process of refinancing and my moms says....its a investment in his future....meaning the monies they were going to get from refinancing was going towards his education....so why not.....we know they loves us....
