Is there a point where it would be more ethical to allow them to die? What precisely makes you believe what you do?

Christians seem to want to save all lives. I as an Atheist have no sympathy for murders, rapist, or child molesters. I believe they should all be hung.

It seems more like most religious beliefs support allowing this murderer to die... Which would be why the religious right supports the death penalty and why Islamic countries tend to be rather strict...

My personal beliefs make it ethical to save the life of a murderer however....

Maybe some, but I don't think most religious beliefs makes it ethical...In the religion that I was taught, they let the murderer live and killed the Lord...However I feel it is wrong to kill anyone including a murderer. When you kill a murderer you yourself become a murderer...You are now guilty of the same act...No one has the right to take a life...in my opinion there are no exceptions...

My primary reason for being against capital punishment is not that God would deny man the act of punishing a murderer, but is instead based on my lack of faith in the justice system. We make to many mistakes...and killing would not be reversable. I prefer life without the chance for parole.

most people have not read the books they quote.

By every religious account, Jesus taught "surrender".

He did not raise a kick-*** army. Jesus did not use kung-fu on his opponents. He sat there, like a lame duck. He was there to teach INACTION. SURRENDER.

It is simply astounding, that so-called "christians" think they should impose death, when Jesus took the time out of his busy day to save a prostitute from death.

Anyone who calls for death is not following Jesus. They have not learned from his great sacrifice.

Anyone who thinks we need to "fight back" have not listened to the message.

"turn the other cheek" "vengeance is mine, sayeth the Lord"...

I mean, really.. how many examples do we need!??!!?

To my mind, who cares? There are so many pressing problems in the world right now that are more important than whether a murderer gets due consideration.

I don't think so. I think the problems start when people's religious views conflict with their politcal views. Sometimes, the same people that rally in front of abortion clinics and say that abortion is murder, are the same people that see nothing wrong with sentencing someone to death. It's very hypocritical to me.

Jehovah has allowed the authorities in their relative position..meaning he is allowing them to rule over mankind...if he didn't want it it would cease.

Jesus said pay back Caesars things to Caesar but Gods things to God

If the superior authorities feel it is necessary to use the death penalty I accept it.
