If he is God, and/or the son of God, then why does he demand conditional love? Such as "believe in me or die".

and applelove...if your neighbor was a Buddhist, was good and pious and loved all things, but didn't share your beliefs, you would suffer that person to damnation?

Dita. The bible doesn't tell me so. Neither OT or NT. Apparently, you must conform to the "club rules" or you are damned.

Exactly Li18ng3lface. (huh.."Lyingone ate no good"..what?)....why should someone choose to love" Him" in order to live (in heaven) just because you are told by "His" supporters that He is the way to truth and life. "But if you choose not to love him and go your own way, then eternal death awaits you because you cannot save yourself. You're a sinner and the penalty for sin is Death." What makes your God any better than somebody elses? Go back to my question. Why conditional love?

If you have children, imagine this:
Your child screws up (big stretch right), the kid keeps screwing up, you're not mad at them (well maybe a bit), but you forgive and love them. You punish them as toddlers (OT), and hope that they learn their lesson... they don't. Later in life they get in real trouble. If you take the rap for them, they will finally get the picture and do the right thing... do you do it. Probably not: we're just human.
But God did, you're the kid, and God is you (in this parable). God's love is so incomprehensibly vast, that he does exactly that, becomes a man, realizes just what "the world" puts on us, and says "I'll take this hit for my kids, maybe they'll get it".

Man made the rule that you have to be born again in Jesus for salvation... but once you know the story: why wouldn't you?

There are no editions of the Bible that are flawless. Before the Bible was let loose to the people, many people edited it for content. Also it was written two centuries after Christ was crucified. I do not believe Jesus had to die in order for God to forgive us. God is quite capable of forgiving us without that bull. Jesus chose to die in order for us to believe God forgave us. Remember the time that Jesus was from. Sacrifice was part of daily life then. Jesus also could not have been a woman, no one would have believed her.
I do not worship the god (small g) of the old testament. When Jesus was born the prophecies of that book was fulfilled, and therefore no longer relevant Jesus, who called himself the Son of Man, not the son of God, shared with us God's, (large G), unconditional love. The ten commandments did not hold a candle to the most important commandment shared by Jesus when asked. It's the only Law we are expected to obey and goes something like this: To love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your heard, and to love your neighbor as you love yourself. If you take a look, it's not possible to break any of the ten commandments. Read your Bible, it's in there.
Humans tend to bring God down to our level. It makes it easier to understand God. But God is not on our level. He loves us more than we are capable of loving. And if I'm not mistaken, the Bible does not say believe in me or die. Jesus does say that he is the only way to Heaven. Couldn't he have meant that if we follow in His loving footsteps that this is the only way? Check the new testament out just a little harder.

Blessed Be

you are misunderstanding the concept. Jesus wants ur unconditional love. If you choose to love Him, you will live (and this is referring to eternal life with Him in heaven) because He is the way they truth and the life. But if you choose not to love him and go your own way, then eternal death awaits you because you cannot save yourself. You're a sinner and the penalty for sin is Death. And not just regular death, but the eternal death that will come after Christ returns. Because God understood that it would be very hard for people to live sin-free, He came and lived that perfect life for us. So the blood He shed was innocent, thus cleansing us and making it possible for us to receive the gift of Salvation. When christians say "believe and be saved" what do u think that means? Christ is called our "Savior" what do u think that means?? Savior of what? saving us from what? ----From the penalty that we all were going to have to pay which was death. hope this helped!! I encourage u to keep asking questions and keep searching for the light!! ur on the right track!! God Bless =)

You will not die, you will just not live with him. He is just trying to tell you that God's kingdom far exceeds any other in which you may end up. He is more than willing to let you into Gods kingdom it is the person who chooses not to live with him. For how can you live with someone you do not love for eternity? Hell is knowing you are living a second class life when all you would have had to do is except Jesus in your heart and live a first class life for eternity. For it is your excepting Jesus that is the only way to wash your sin's clean and no unclean thing may reside in heaven with God.

God is a Holy God and His Judgment and Justice eminates from His Holiness. God wants us in Heaven with Him, but He can's take us to Heaven and maintain His Holiness unless He reaps judgment upon our sinfulness. This is why God worked out a plan not to have to take out His judgment on us in the way we deserve, by sending His Righteous perfect Son down to this earth to take our judgment for us. If God required conditional love, we would all have failed the conditions and never been given His unconditional love thru His Grace and Mercy and would ALL die in our sins forever. When Jesus is master of our lives, we understand God's Word and know Him. The confusion is gone and assurance takes it's place. In Christ forever.

Its like rearing a child. In may instances you have to give them choices like ' do your homework or no television", "come home before curfew or you are grounded"; " you either live by my rules or leave my house!';

So with God " believe that i AM God or Die"

If you do not believe in God and all that He stands for, why on earth would you want to live with Him forever? Think about it!
If you are not with him you must be with someone or something else, and anything else is not of God, so of course you cannot live with Him (God) forever.

You must live with whom you choose. Moreover, its a choice not a demand. He wont make you serve Him.

And this option has nothing to do with the fact that He is God since he was and has been before the beginning of time.

God bless.

All I know is that God made the earth, then made man, and He made the rules.and requirements for eternal life in Heaven. As it says in Isaiah and Romans - He is the potter, we are the clay. We have no right to question God's authority or will. We can be humble and accept it, or proud and reject it--and suffer the consequences!

Love and belief are two different things. Satan and his demons believe in God, but certainly don't love him. The relationship between God and man in the beginning was that of a parent and child. Sin destroyed that kind of relationship. God still wants that relationship, but perfect justice demands the penalty for sin be handed out. That's what non-Christians seem to ignore. God is perfect in all ways, not just love but perfectly just as well.

Jesus loves all of us, but He gave us a freewill.

Here is how it is. It is like being a parent. You love your child and when the child grows up and decides to leave you forever. You love your Child but you can not force your child to love you. You warn the Child if he or she leaves you, that they will end up with Satan. But the Child decides to love and follow Satan instead. The Child, therefore, sends themselves to hell because they believed a lie and love their sin more than you.

Who do chose to follow? The choice is yours.

I am glad to shed some light on this subject so you will not be confused anymore.

ummmm..... i think you mean unconditional love, and he never say "believe in me or die". there are only two options, being with God, or being separated from God. there is no third option. since Jesus is God incarnate, if we want to be with God for eternity, then all we have to do is follow Jesus' example. God wants ALL of us to be with Him, unfortunately alot of people chose not to, by rejecting Christ and ignoring God. God is a perfect gentleman, and He's not going to force people to follow Him, we were given free will and He wants us to use it. Hell is separation from God. if you dont want to be with God in life, then he is certainly not going to force you to be with him in death.
