Customer service is King, and bartenders are masters of this. Do not think for one minute that your experience with human psychology is lacking. Push it in the resume, and aim for sales or customer service jobs. Have confidence in your skills, and treat potential employers as if they're your bar patrons---figure them out an satisfy their needs.

Good luck. I'm sure you'll do well.

Wow, I could have written this question myself. I have done lots of things in my life but mostly bartending. I'm getting a bit old for this stuff, but I am also great with people. I have had people follow me around from one establishment to another for years. I'm down to earth and I know I'm pretty funny. My resume is all over the place too. I'd like to get in touch with you and kick some ideas around. When you say you are not good with management, do you mean you don't want to be a manager or do you mean you don't get along with them?

What about a job in catering for a hotel or hispital? (yep, hospitals do it too, esp. big ones!) or working in foodservice in general?

Or maybe in sales for an alcohol beverage distributor? I see these guys in the grocery stores, re-arranging their wines, shmoozing it up w/ the store manager, and they wear khakis and a polo shirt to work-- and don't seem to work too hard.

You may also look into working in a nice wine dept. of a good "gourmet" grocery store. You may not know that much about wines (yet!) but can learn!

Best wishes to you! I think you can go just about anywhere you want to!

I don't have an answer for you but I feel like I am stuck in a rut too. I hate it and I feel like I just don't have alot of other options. Going back to school is the only thought I've had. I wish you luck.
