Put the trash can underneath or in a kitchen cabinet, get a baby latch if they can open the cabinet. The other option is to crate them overnight if you can't trust them. All you need is for them to eat something in the trash that could kill them!!

Have you tried putting some dried hot pepper on top of the garbage? What will work even better is if you put some cans that have lids and put coins or something like that in the cans now put that on top the garbage can lid so that when they pull it over it makes a big racket. It will scare the you know what out of them. Or if you have the patience hide around the corner and when they go near the garbage throw the cans in their direction.

Get a garbage can that they can't get into. My fiance's parents have to labs that love to get into the trash, but they got a garbage can from CostCo. It is a metal one that says push on the lid. It works very well. It has a rounded lid that says push. It is pretty hard to get into for the dogs it is a hard push to get into. I hope this helps!

i have rottis as well and this is their fave thing to do to stop them i just put moth balls in the garbage bins about 6 each bin will do cheap and effective wont only keep your dogs out either otherwise spinkle pepper over the bag before putting lid on works a treat

Empty all inside garbage cans before you go to bed.
Especially, get rid of food smells, compost kitchen waste.
Wash all cans & bottles for recycling. Put out the garbage.
Get new outside garbage cans, the kind with a locking lid.

ahh, thats exactly like my dogs, (2 labs), I can never get them to stop....they will find a way to get into it,and it leaves a huge mess everywhere. Unless they have shock collars,, iam afraid that u cant stop them. But be careful, they get snappy when u take the garbage away from them

Put it somewhere like the laundry room, and shut the door. Unless one of them has thumbs... they shouldn't be able to get into a closed room.

Good luck.
