i have seven in my tank. there africans. keep the ph high, at least 8.0 temp around 78

add a few at atime. i started out with 4 babies around 2 inches, then a week or two later my water tested out okay and i added three more. i may add an algae eater of some sort when i see a lot. but thats probably max if not more for a 29 gallon. but ive lost no fish.

i have two elecric yellows, and one electric blue, and 4 other assorted ones, they fought a lot until i added lots of rock work for them to hang out in and get away from each other in

i wouldnt add an eel. the fire eels get pretty big.

hope this helps buddy

What kind of Cichlids? If you want the common Cichlids like Electric Yellow and Electric Blue, you could probably have 3 of one kind and 4 of the other kind. It varries greatly for different species so we are going to need some more information. Be careful, I am not sure how the eel will do with these guys though...

I have a 30 gallon with African Cichlids. I was originally told 5 gallons of water per fish (you need to think of them as an adult size, otherwise, you will need more tanks when they grow). I currently have 7 cichlids in my tank, a pleco, and a spotted pictus.

Make sure you have plenty of rock hides, (red shale works great), and you should be fine with 5-7.

With the other fish you want to keep, I would suggest you stick with South American fish. Maybe a pair of Convicts or angels.

normally its two fish per gallon? so...do the math... minus 12 inches for the eel and the pleco.

You could have a pair of convictshttp://www.cichlid-forum.com/profiles/species.php?id=132 or fire mouthshttp://www.cichlid-forum.com/profiles/species.php?id=65 in your tank.

If you put 'em in a blender...there's no telling. Keep these questions in their own category. I have no clue. I'm in general questions. If I was out of line ...please tell me.
