both. medical is anything that makes you unwell, mental is just a division of medical that is concerned with your brain and how you feel/act/perceive. in any case, it's treatable and nothing you have to live with.

Being bipolar myself it is both. It is a condition caused by chemical imbalances within the BRAIN.
