I am thinking that this verse makes a very good case. Why have the extremists ignored this? Am I the only one to catch this? People like to say that Islam says to kill people who do not convert to Islam. So why does this verse in the Quran say to discriminate in war, and to not care if they are muslim or not? What do you think? It says to leave those alone who are not fighting. Those who offer you peace and don't fight are to be left alone.

What is your opinion?

[004:094] O ye who believe! When ye go forth (to fight) in the way of Allah, be careful to discriminate, and say not unto one who offereth you peace: "Thou art not a believer," seeking the chance profits of this life (so that ye may despoil him). With Allah are plenteous spoils. Even thus (as he now is) were ye before; but Allah hath since then been gracious unto you. Therefore take care to discriminate. Allah is ever Informed of what ye do.

well, the fact that it says to leave the people who aren't fighting you alone shows that you can only kill in self defense.

Allah or god or any other being that had anything to do with starting life on this planet would not want to destroy it. I think we are on our own here and we have made a mess of it all along. We need a recall on human life. You guys have to come back here and set some ground rules before we end up gone.Who decided this year should be 2007 on a planet that is billions of years old? Do you think we are going to rotate around the sun forever. If man didn't make this earth....then who did? Someone had to! When everyone comes together and decides......please let me know.

True religion is in your heart not in the written word. No matter who you are you cannot justify wrong behavior with religion. Every one has the ability to know good from evil. I do enjoy your questions and answers as I can see your heart is in the right place. God Bless and keep up your spirit, there are so many mean people are on here that it makes me sick to see some of the hateful answers questions like yours get. I am Glad you stick up for all those who are good in your religion.

Google two words; violence & quran, the book is filled with hate and intolerance. So is the bible. Anyone who feels a need to decipher this crap is lost. If there really was a god, don't you think he would be a little more direct? Perhaps something was lost in the translation, but wouldn't a real god have figured out a way to give everyone an equal opportunity to decide if these are his, her, or its words?

That is a beautiful sentiment and unfortunately like most passages from holy words from any religion can be ignored by those who follow their own agenda. Although I am a Christian, I am amazed at the similarities I have seen in the overall contents of their holy books. Islam and Christian.

For the same reason every other religion has its extremes on either end: because faith leaves no room for sensible judgment.
