I agree that it was tasteless. This type of behavior may have been in good fun for the mother, but she was stealing the attention away from her daughter. She had her wedding(s); it's time for her to sit down and graciously smile at her daughter's happiness.

It is a little on the tacky side, but since she was with mostly family I don't see the harm in it, if she had really caught I think she would have ask the bride to throw it again.
At least she didn't do what I did, at my brother's wedding I stepped out of the way of the bouquet so I wouldn't have to catch it, and everyone wanted me to anyways.

I was always under the impression that only single unmarried women were to try to catch the bouquet in hopes of being the next to marry. The same hold true for the garter and single men.

As long as she is single, meaning not married, then she is part of that group. Just because she is divorced, no matter how many times doesn't mean that she can't also believe in something so ridiculous as if you catch the bouquet you will be the next to marry.

Remember this is not an ettiquette contest. It is the Bride and Groom's day. If they feel that it was ok, then relax and go with it all. After all, you don't get any big cash prize for catching the bouquet, and allowing hte Bride and Groom to choose the mood is all for the best.

It's really just a tradition. I don't think there is any superstition in catching the bouquet. It's a wedding. Everyone's just having fun. No big deal. I woudn't lose sleep over it.

I think that's a little ironic, but really it's just a fun tradition that shouldn't be taken too seriously. It was somewhat awkward that people were cheering her on, because having been a first-hand witness of divorce, it's one of the ugliest processes people go through.

Why is it even important what we think? Is she single? If so, she's entitled to go up to try to catch the bouquet. The bouquet toss doesn't have rules that I'm aware of, other than it's for single women and the one who catches it is supposed to be the next one married. Lighten up. You've put way to much importance on this.

It was in Very, VERY poor taste. My husband's father (having children with multiple women and abandoning my husband and his family) joined the group of single men trying to catch the garter at our wedding.

1) It's her mother!
2) Weddings are supposed to be fun.
3) It's just a bouquet toss and it doesn't mean anything.
4) Are you jealous that you had competition or just being extremely judgemental toward the MOB?
