I've had Jeeps since 1973. I love them all - for what they are. A great truck. The CJ and it's derivatives (wrangler) are fantastic off-road machines - especially the current Rubicon versions right out off the showroom floor.
No Jeep is really at home on-road. What makes them so great off road is often a detriment on-road. Does not matter how much leather and power thinggies they have - at the core - it's an off road machine - with nice bits put in.
And to illustrate this, I have a car for day to day use.

Iam a long time Jeep owner and have never had a single problem with any of my jeeps, '73 CJ which is an AMC (american motors corp.) you remember them for cars like the Gremlin and Pacer, "99 Cherokee and an "06 Liberty. The CJ has had minor issues but it is pushing 35 years. I have spent less repair dollars on my "99 cherokee with 140,000 miles than any vehicle I have ever owned ( one Alt., 3 sets of tires, two brake jobs, and an air cond. switch $9.00 ) Zero problems with the '06 Liberty thus far. Remember that routine maintainence is key.

I am completely satisfied with my two current jeeps (07 wrangler, and 06 commander), no problems so far. My previous jeep a 2000 cherokee was problem free also, i traded it at 105,000 to get my wife the commander. I must be satisfied, thats why I keep buying them.

Ok so I haven't owned my Jeep for long (Oct 06) and I have modified it a bit. (5 1/2 RE LA lift, 4.88 gears, 35" tires) but, YES! I love my Jeep. Hate the service at the dealerships and will not even try another one. I have had nothing but lies and rip offs from their service departments.
Find a reliable mechanic or do it yourself.

I am very satisfied with my 91 wrangler, it has a 6 inch lift and 36 inch super swampers. I have had no problems out of it. The motor has 39,000 miles of nothing but off- roading on it, the rest of the driveline has abou 250,000 on it and no problems yet!

Ok, People need to realize that every, every make and model will have their lemons, perks of mass production. I don't care if you are talking about a jeep or a Mercedes, they all have their lemons. Just because you are one or a few people that have problems, does not mean they are all bad. Also, half the people that complain about problems, do not keep up on the maintenance their vehicle requires or are rough on them.
