I do not care if they are or are not a drain on the taxpayers. They refuse to respect the laws of the USA. They break the law by coming here illegally. they are criminals, and should be removed from this country.
I love immigrants. I am descended from people who immigrated to this great country of ours! The difference is they came here legally, they learned to speak English, and they found a way to fit in!
Those who do not respect our laws, and either enter illegally, or overstay visas, should be jailed and deported.

I see your point CalGal. Problem is that many do "tax" the system. On the other hand they also perform valuable services.
At current, there are supposedly 12-18 million illegal immigrants here. We have 4% unemployement which is considered to be pretty much 0, as in everyone that wants a job has one.
In other words, if we deported all of them, we would have a worker shortage which would cause massive inflation.
The mexicans *are* good workers and many if not most *do* pay taxes, even if illegally (though a false SSN).
Immigration reform is needed. But it MUST include immigration control. It *should* increase immigration to a level to support employees needed, but it *must* also prevent excess and illegal immigration. There is a balance.
Further we *must* be able to prevent terrorists from crossing the border, whether it is the northern or southern border.

If you don't think they get welfare benefits than how about they get hurt at work and they go to the hospital with no insurance? they are in a car accident (no matter who is at fault), they or their children are sick and need medical care. Hospitals can not turn anyone away and they treat everyone so there is an example of illegals get something.
also, some illegals do get benefits they buy illegals documents and get benefits. You can not say it doesn't happen because it does. Also, they send their children to school, they receive free lunch and a free education, special education where needed.
Don't get me wrong I am all for immigrants I just want them to come legally so that they have a vested interest in what goes on.
as for our own citizens getting welfare well that's what it's there for!!!!!! to help American citizens in need, and yes Many Many Many take advantage of it but not everyone does. so don't lump all welfare recipients into one big wad OK.

What kind of citizens, or residents, will they be if the start of their life here is based on breaking the law?
They do get the benefit of free health care - they've caused the closing of scores of hospitals in California and Texas alone.
In Texas, even citizens can't have a baby delivered within 150 miles of the borders because the illegals have overwhelmed the hospitals with demands for free maternity care.
The business of forged documents is so great that many illegals are in that business alone, taking advantage of their own countrymen.
They don't pay taxes, they kill us on the roads because they can't drive, they smuggle illegal drugs, they participate in slavery and murder, and their life is based entirely on disobeying the law of the land.
I don't want reform - I want the laws enforced. Americans obey the laws of Mexico - especially immigration and property laws - why should we not expect the same?

Illegal aliens do not belong here. The sneak into the US borders and take jobs away from Americans. The pregnant women cross the border to have anchor babies.
They send the money they make to Mexico.
The US needs to build a good fence and NOW!
Keep the illegal aliens out!

If they are granted amnesty, not only will they get welfare, but 10 million more will come flying accross the border for the next round of amnesty.

Gee I always thought they used my tax money when they went to the emergency room. Course where I live, CA, they got money because of their lost work in the citrus freeze. Call it what you want it's all "welfare"
