Why is Answering Islam taking verses out of context and only picking and choosing? Why did they only quote a part of the verse and ignore the rest of it? It is stating not to take known enemies as allies, for fear of betrayal. It's saying if they turn to violence and attack (turn to enmity) then you defend yourselves. Even then, it says if they stop or if there is an oath between the groups, you must stop and honor that oath. What do you think?

[004:089] They long that ye should disbelieve even as they disbelieve, that ye may be upon a level (with them). So choose not friends from them till they forsake their homes in the way of Allah; if they turn back (to enmity) then take them and kill them wherever ye find them, and choose no friend nor helper from among them,

[004:090] Except those who seek refuge with a people between whom and you there is a covenant, or (those who) come unto you because their hearts forbid them to make war on you or make war on their own folk. Had Allah willed He could have given them power over you so that assuredly they would have fought you. So, if they hold aloof from you and wage not war against you and offer you peace, Allah alloweth you no way against them.

This is exactly how the Answering Islam site stated it

" "seize them and slay them wherever you find them: and in any case take no friends or helpers from their ranks." 4:89"

It's a Islam hating site and anyone with a vertebrae can recognize that. If someone really truly wants to learn about Islam they should talk to people they know or explore it themselves. The net is full of idiotic and sometimes very funny concepts of Islam. I went to this site. It's so funny how a non-Muslim, non-scholar tried to translate a hadth or ayah and give his interpretation of Islam. Makes you wonder where these people were educated.

N9wff >> "Why don't you contact the "infidels" themselves. Since they were former Islams, they can debate this with you" LOL I prove my point. You hear that, they were former Islams. lol.

Allah (God), asks people to love one another.
This is not being expressed here.

Unity within True Believers is not being expressed here.
Backbiting, divisiveness and faultfinding are qualities of shaitan, let us have nothing to do with that.

This is the world, there will be people that exhibit these dark qualities, at this site. We must act as though they are not among us!

Let us not be in that group, that finds fault with anything.

I think every religion that follows a book of guidelines - whether it be the bible, the torah, the koran or whatever else - often takes verses out of context to use in defense of their own views. It's a shame that it happens, but I think it happens in every religion.

For the same reason people quote and take out of context parts of the book called bible. People will try to exert control over each other for this reason!

I think they use this verse purposely out of context in the same way that Muslim extremists take it out of context for their purposes. That may be the point they are trying to make?

Just as this group chose selectively the words from the Qur'an, you chose selectively from what this group said.

For example, i have no idea what the exact question was that they were answering.

So what were YOUR reasons for including some words and omitting others? Odds are, their reasons were not much different.

Praise Allah

Why don't you contact the "infidels" themselves. Since they were former Islams, they can debate this with you.
Have you heard all the stories going on today in Iran? Teaching kids as young as five hatred toward Jews and their allies?
Cartoons that depict kids wearing, AND USING, suicide belts for Allah?
Kids as young as 8-10 are being trained on using uzis for jihad.

Last question:
Why is Mohammad still in his grave...while Jesus is not?
Could it be that Jehovah resurrected Jesus...while Allah could not?
