I may be confused about the way things work, but WHY is he being disqualified from a race he qualified for, rather than sent to the back and penalized like Earnhardt Jr., Kurt Busch, Gordon and Johnson? All of them got to race on Sunday, but not Vickers. Why?

I think as much control as NASCAR wants on everything , NASCAR should have the teams all parts on the cars. Nothing is made by the teams. No engines no bodies no chassis , everything is handed to the teams. Also NASCAR should assemble everything so no one can cheat. Oh wait they do have a series like that its called IROC. When they are getting to a point where most penalties they hand out are judgement calls to try to penalize everyone , thats bullshit.

I don't know for sure what the deal is, but I can assure you, it is most probably NOT illegal parts. That's what DEI and HMS were fined for (along with the other 3 or 4 infractions).
Quote from NASCAR's site........
"We had several opportunities to roll back and forth and check the air pressure. They pretty much let us do everything except put gas back in it, as far as the way we ran through the original inspection."
That sounds to me like they should have jumped up and down on the back bumper. That would have settled the rear springs enough to pull the nose up 1/4".

Instead of disqualifying vickers I agree that they should of have docked him a 100 points instead of suspending his crew cheif for 6 races that is a bad call on nascars part BIG TIME

Not necessarily, remember Jeff Gordon this year at Daytona. His car was also low and what happened to him....nothing. Mostly because Nascar felt it wasnt intentional and they allowed him to go to the back of the pack of the 150's. This might have part failure also. If it looks intentional it will be penalized equally but if not intentional will probably just start at the back.

I agree with gregs111, except if the COT is modified consistency would dictate the same penalty as 24 & 48's

Not the same"alteration" to the car.But any penalty will be announced Tuesday by NASCAR.
Not the first time this year a car has been too low upon inspection(Jeff Gordon at Daytona-Improper mounted shock). So it will be strrickly a NASCAR judgement.

I agree with IL Dirt Racer 2. We had to do the same thing to our sedan when we went to the AUSCAR race at theThunderdome back in 2000. I'm glad NASCAR never came back here!!!
