No, I don't think it's a bad thing. Just make sure she has food and water. Also, you might want to put a training pad or some newspapers down somewhere in case she has to use the bathroom. I don't think you should leave her in there for too long though, maybe just a couple hours. If you really are starting to feel guilty about it though, then don't do it. You could always try isolating her somewhere else more open in the house and just close it off with baby gates.

Casar Millan, the Dog Whisperer, will tell you there is nothing wrong with treating a dog like a dog. As long as your little dog is healthy, well-exercised, and "balanced," it will have no problem at all being in a secure area.

My brother has used many of this guy's techniques....and his dog is wonderful!!! By the way.....when they leave.....Millie is confined to a two-room area of their house. She is given a kong with peanut butter inside. She views this as a treat and it makes the separation easier. Remember exercise! This keeps your dog relaxed and tuned in to you!

Google Cesar Millan.......he has books and also has a program on Animal Planet. Check your local listings! I swear by this guy!

I bought a small dog playpen and set it up on the tile floor. I put pee pads at one end and a bed/small crate and water/food dish at the other end. A couple of chew toys. This way he was safe, yet couldn't pee and poop all over the house and also couldn't get hurt. When you are home, really work on teaching her to go potty outside.

No, there's nothing wrong with that. I leave my dog in my room when I leave, and he just sleeps on the bed the whole time. Your dog is even smaller than mine. It's important to look out for her safety, so if she's safer this way, then go ahead and do it.

don't see any thing wrong with it .just make sure she has every thing she needs ,food water and favorite toys, maybe even a special dog tape to play on the TV so she won't be so lonesome ,now if you will be gone for more than a day you need to find a pet sitter.

^As long as your dog has water, air and some chew toys he/she should be fine, just make sure there is nothing the dog can get hurt with, that includes wires if your dog is a chewer..
