I just installed quicktime player onto my computer. No errors came up during installation and no compatibility errors popped up ethier. I do have user control off though.

What happens is I will try to play any .mov file extension, quicktime opens it and plays about 5 to 25 seconds of the video, and then a small windows pops up saying

"Buffer overrun detected!

Program: C:\program files\quicktime\quicktimeplayer.exe

A buffer overrun has been detected which has corrupted the program's internal state. The program cannot safely continue execution and must now be terminated"

I am on a HP Pvailion DV9000 laptop, running on Windows Vista Home Premium. 32-bit operating system.

Any help would greatly be appreciated!

Solution 1:
try VLC Media player. it plays the .mov files just fine. the link is:
http://www.videolan.org/vlc/download-windows.html
I'm using it till apple fixes their problem

"I had the exact same problem and using these setting on VLC corrected my issue. Thanks!"

Solution 2:
I just went back to my settings to recreate what you guys are having problems with so try this.

Settings> Preferences> video> Output modules

now try those different options there, the one that i use is "windows GDI video output"

"Thanks making the change to "windows GDI video output" did the trick."

I don't know for certain, but didn't quicktime and itunes have issues with Vista? I would assume that they have been resolved by now, but I remember people complaining that itunes wouldn't work on vista. I haven't tried vista yet.
