Teach them appreciation of what is around them - nature, humanity, art, architecture, music... when they can appreciate what they see and hear they will develop their own spiritual sense about it.

Teach them what the usual common theme is in most religions and in humanity. Treat other people as the way you want to be treated. Take them on nature trips.
Also do you want to teach them something about the religions out there? Just curious.
I talk about different religions with my children and their different holidays and why they do them and where the origins of them come from. I am seriously thinking about taking them to the local Unitarian Universal church which talks about all the different religions and belief systems without putting any one of them down. I am hoping it will give them a better understanding of other people, make them more tolerant and well rounded when they grow up. I am not saying you should do this, but it may something you may want to look into.

Prophets through the ages have taught through parables.
They used parables because they wanted to touch their followers in an easy manner, such as things in nature, that they could assimilate. This will require research no doubt
but it appeals to there very nature as a child. Most children are wise if they are nurtured in the art of being patient, and using the wisdom that they have been given.
Most importantly we must teach children "how to think" not "what to think". We should let them know how we feel regarding a particular topic, and show them the wisdom involved in dealing with the matter. Constructive criticism should be used. If they make a wise decision in a situation, congratulate them on making a wise choice.
The rest is in the loving hands of the parent............

Show a child the majesty of the ocean, the mountains, the rivers, and the trees. Teach him/her to love and respect nature. Take them on hikes and bikerides. That is what my father did with me, and I have always felt a deep spiritual connection to the earth, although I am an avowed atheist. Respect for the natural world is a great way to be spiritual.

I don't think you can teach spirituality at all. We are born with it. Religion is quite a different story.

Isn't religion built on Spirituality? Well, I don't think we can escape spirituality whether we have religion or not. Have a good heart and keep open minded.

Teach them first about karma. And teach them meditation/visualisation techniques. They'll figure the rest out on their own.

God is spirit and He made you. Jesus is God in the flesh by whom every thing was made. Have a spiritual realationship with God the father just like a child has a relationship with an earthly father.

love of self, love of others, love of nature, love of animals.
In one word, to give and receive love unconditionally. Your child will be very spiritual and fulfilled. May the Force be with you.
