If a presidential canidate publically announced that he did not believe that the religion you believed in was legitimate, would you still vote for this person? Would you have enough faith in that person to treat all people equally when he/ she has already proven to discriminate and hold a biased opinion?

Considering I do not believe in any deity and I have a 20 year voting record then yes. I don't care if they match my personal beliefs so long as they have political acumen and the ability to fairly represent all their constituents regardless of their belief or non-belief.

If you are holding out for someone who is not what you have described above then someone, somewhere along the line would not be voting. There is no such thing as perfection and sometimes we have to accept even that which does not agree with us on a more personal level for the greater good.

That's a tough question, truly.

I wouldn't have faith that this person would objectively deal with others on an equal basis, no. But what if that candidate was the best option out of a bad bunch?

Truly hard question.

Yes I would, considering that I've NEVER heard of a candidate that publically stated he was of the same religion as me (and yes, my religion is an organized religion with a name).

Just because he isn't going to go to church with you doesn't mean he wont be a good president and lead his country in the right way...

He has every right to have opinions. Even if they don't agree with you. It is his right as a human...

Do whatever feels right to you...

good question, if very fictitious.

what politician, worthy of the name, would EVER make such an admission that could cost him a vote?
