Go up?

I also assume you mean illegal aliens. They are already here. We already school their children and tend to their pressing medical needs. Labeling them as legal or temporary will not change that.

They do pay taxes here, it is just an indirect tax. They pay property taxes in the form of rent to a landlord who pays the property tax and reaps a profit. They pay income taxes by working for someone who cannot then turn around and deduct their labor from his income -- and he is likely to have to pay a greater tax than they would because he has a larger overall income and very probably has fewer deductions than would be required to touch this addition to his real income.

We subsidize the medical care for all the poor and uninsured in this country no matter where they come from, that is already part of both our income and state sales taxes.

About the only tax they don't pay in some respect is social security -- but they don't get social security disability or retirement benefits.

We must be able to afford that high a price -- we pay it now, and I'm not missing any meals over it.

Let's see - if by the border people, you mean illegal immigrants, people oftentimes forget that they provide some real benefits to our society and economy. We don't just support anyone.
