Would it make you mad, sad, or would you feel indifferent?

Depends on the circumstances... if someone close to me had died or something otherwise really bad had happened to me, I would just accept it as some attempt at being polite and then move on.

If nothing bad had happened, I probably would just feel confused. And also just move on.

I would feel anxious, because I wouldn't give the person the benefit of the doubt by asking the reason. But I would privately wonder and I would ask people who are close to me if there's something odd that I should know. Even when I don't like someone, their judgment goes a long way.

If I really thought 'e was stupid, I'd take it as a compliment.
If e's kind of a smart person and I know I'm doing something wrong, I'd try to learn from it but not give'm credit for it.
I think the people we don't like are a clue about something in ourselves.
