It makes no sense whatsoever, according to the definition of lake.
Lake - n.
1. A large inland body of fresh water or salt water.
2. A scenic pond, as in a park.
3. A large pool of liquid: a lake of spilled coffee on my desk.
Or is fire considered liquid?

Fire IS considered a fluid, though not exactly liquid. It is the fourth state of matter--plasma, which along with liquid, is also considered a fluid. A lake is a great pool of any fluid, not just liquid. Therefore, a lake of fire would be a large pool of flaming plasma.
Hope this helps...

I have 2 ideas:
Once years ago the Cuyahoga River in Cleveland caught fire, I guess from oil floating on the surface.
On top of a couple of volcanoes I went to was a bright green lake in the crater with steam coming out around it. Beautiufl.
I didn't think of hell though because I don't believe God would have any purpose torturing anyone for eternity.

Lake of fire is a metaphor for Hell. Don't think about the reality as you know it...read it as a child would...imagine what you think a lake of fire would look like, and remember that the real hell is much worse
search the site below for the TOPIC lake of fire for confirmation or talk to a pastor.

Allow me to show you what this means from the Bible:
Ezekiel 28:18 Â Thou hast defiled thy sanctuaries by the multitude of thine iniquities, by the iniquity of thy traffick; therefore will I bring forth a fire from the midst of thee, it shall devour thee, and I will bring thee to ashes upon the earth in the sight of all them that behold thee.
19 Â All they that know thee among the people shall be astonished at thee: thou shalt be a terror, and never shalt thou be any more.
I would recommend reading the whole chapter. This chapter is looking at Satan by comparing with the king of Tyre. Notice what the verses say, "...I bring forth a fire from the midst of thee, it shall devour thee, and I will bring thee to ashes upon the earth...". Compare this scripture with the lake of fire, "Revelation 20:9 Â And they went up on the breadth of the earth, and compassed the camp of the saints about, and the beloved city: and fire came down from God out of heaven, and devoured them.
10 Â And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever."
GOD bless

Maybe it means you'll be in real hot water, so to speak, not literally, etc. In any case, it's for the devil, and death, not people, or souls.
