If youre looking for a job in a short amount of time it's not a bad way to find one. Some companies only hire through temp agencies so it's not a bad idea, but don't use a temp agency that's going to charge you money. Try a temp agency that's free of charge. Usually they'll find you a job really quick, sometimes in days, sometimes in a week.

Try Several in your Area, but Stick with Larger, Well known ones for your Own Protection. It's good Experience to fill an Empty Resume with, or Fill in during Unemployment.
I've had Mixed results from the ones I've tried. Some sent me to Long term, and some 1 Day. Some will Call right away, and some Never called at all!
Be careful where they send you, like Bad Neighborhoods, etc.
Most will offer Decent Wages, but No Benefits.
I've been TOLD it might become Permantent....But Never had an Offer, nor Know anyone that did.
NEVER go to one that wants a FEE! Most Reputable Temp Agencies get their Money from the Client.

I don't know how good they are for entry level work, but I've been able to find some very good assignments through temp agencies. You might want to sign on with more than one company to start. That way you can see how they do for you. Also, I think it's a good idea to go with a larger, longer standing company like Office Team or Randstad. They both have websites, you can look to see what kind of work they offer in your area.
Make sure you take advantage of any training they offer. Some will offer online classes to improve your skill set. I think this is a good idea for an entry level worker. And, it will show them you are serious about becoming a more marketable worker. Good luck.

Try a few temp agencies, all at the same time. Sign up with all of them. However, depending on your skills, you may have to stay on their butts about work. Every single day I was calling all of them asking if they had any work for the day. If you don't keep checking back and keeping up on it, they don't call you. I've had some great experiences though. I've done everything from packaging candles to waiting on the Mondavis, to working gala events. Lots of experiences to be had if you're available and you can tack it on the ol' resume.

I worked for a temp agency back in the day. They always had work for me. But you need to agree to work most kinds of jobs - don't be picky!
