it always makes me laugh when people say that your nails don't breathe when you have nails on THAT is not true, they grow always if they didn't you would not ever need a fill . you can keep them on as long as you want as long as you have them done every two weeks by a professional. and you will only get fungus if you go to the chop shops, a good nail tech keeps her tools clean and you should not have to worry about any fungus

Judging by some of the answers you've already gotten, I see some of these girls aren't experienced with nails. If u r wearing acrylic nails, u can keep them on as longs as u like. When you look at the top of your nail bed and you see them growing out away from your cuticle, it is time to go and get a fill.If you you break one or one comes off, just go and get a repair which may cost $3-$5(depending on where u live). If you flip your hand over and look under your nails and you see them growing to a length that suits you, ask the nail tech to do a soak off with acetone and then give you an overlay. An overlay is a light acrylic coat to help strengthen your nails so they won't break as easy. I have kept acrylic nails on for months at a time. But the best ones to get are solar nails because they last longer and you don't have to go and get your nails done every two weeks unlike acrylic ones. Good luck.......

Not for more than a couple of months. During those few months im sure you will have them filled. Natural nails need to have air. They need to breathe. That is why they get frail and break off so easily when acrylic nails are worn. Acrylic nails can really damage the nails when worn for a long period of time.

You should get them refilled after 2 weeks, and keep them on for no longer than 2-3 months. Your real nails need to breathe eventually, so after a few refills, get some acrylic remover from a drug store and soak the nails in it until they come off, then wait another couple weeks (or more) to get them on again.

There will most likely be no negative consequences if you keep them on longer than a few months, besides your real nails becoming thinner and more brittle. I've done it before with no problem.

Good luck! :)

they usually last 2-4 weeks before they need re-filled or replaced eventually they will need to be replaced becuase they are meant to be maintained every 2-3 weeks. *** the longer you keep them on the weaker your natural nail bed gets and you can risk a nasty fungal infection if they are poorly maintained. If you keep them on a long time over 4 months w/o letting your natural nail bed "breathe" unfortunatley they will be painful for about 10-14 days after you do get them removed. The price of beauty. properly maintained you can keep them virtually forever but it is costly and a professional should be involved in the process. DO NOT PRY THEM OFF THEY SHOULD BE REMOVED WITH PURE ACETONE for 30-60 min soaking, you get that from a beauty supply shop

i get mine filled about every 2 and a half weeks or so. I only get them filled twice per full set. I take them off, wait a couple weeks to get them stronger, then restart =]

keep them on? forever, if you want, just getting them refreshed every two weeks; that's about how long they last before they start chipping off--two weeks--if you want to keep them, you need to get them repaired by then, if not, you can let them come off.

Maybe like two weeks or until they start coming off.
