I used to but from Midway, they sold remanufactured at a good price, but discontinued it. (It was about $140.00 per 1,000) I'm looking for light cowboy loads for matches. Any ideas? Thanks!

With the 'politically correct' attitude invading even the practice range, cast lead bullets may soon be a thing of the past, with all the 'dangers' connected with 'lead pollution' from practicing with un-jacketed lead bullets. With all the Demacracks and other fools sticking their snouts in the range doors, we may soon see lead as a 'controlled substance' and all casting equipment as 'paraphernalia'.
I always considered casting and sizing my own target slugs as much fun as reloading ammo, and a lot cheaper than buying target bullets, even in bulk! One might give this a try.

Check the SASS Wire at www.sassnet.com One of the pards there can probably point you in the right direction.

You might also try Natchez Shooters Supply at www.natchezss.com Sometimes they carry ammo that Midway doesn't.

There are lots of 38sp 158G cast lead SWC out there.

I load using Meister 158 SWC over 2.8-3.0 grains of Clays. Costs me about $3.50 for 50 rounds. Makes for a real nice CAS load out of a Vaquero and also feeds with no problem in my 94. Maybe it's time to think about loading your own. If you're only loading one or two calibers, it's not that expensive.

By the way, Grizzly II (sorry if I got the name wrong) makes some good points. I try not to bring politics into these things (but to each his own), but if you want to try casting your own, don't get too worried about the availability of raw materials. Wheel weights make nice target bullets and THEY are probably not going away any time soon.

Since SASS rules prohibit jacketed bullets anyway, cast to your heart's content. Use good ventilation.

Don't know if they have any left but J & G had some 38 special ammo on sale several weeks ago. Check out AMMOMAN, too, along with OUTDOOR MARKSMAN.

That is silly--there are no bargains for ammunition no matter what size or shape. Cowboys don't carry matches any more they use a Zippo or Bic. Discontunued because they were losing money and besides there is no market for wad cutters. Go to your ammo storoe. The ones that sell guns and buy a bulk case -- might get some kind of discount.
