No. although, if you notice on your toothpaste tube it says that if a child swallows more than a little bit that you should seek medical attention. This is due to the fluoride in it. If you ingest enough fluoride (like 1/2 of an entire tube), it acts like a poison and could possibly even kill a person (esp small person - child). Fluoride however is VERY SAFE AND BENEFICIAL in small concentrations. Many communities have a fluoridated water supply (fluoride added to drinking water at about 1 particle of fluoride per 1,000,000 particles of water) and that has helped decrease cavities in the overall population.

Fluoride helps prevent cavities by strengthening your tooth enamel (outer layer of your tooth).

As an interesting note, many bottled waters do not have fluoride, so drink up if you want cavities.

I don't know anything about the toxins that were in the chinese toothpastes but thats probably over now.

The current issue is that toothpaste produced in China and distributed and/or sold in the United States potentially contains diethylene glycol, a component of car antifreeze. The Chinese government is claiming that the ingredient isn't harmful, however, the United States Federal Drug Administration (FDA) is putting its foot down and recognizes diethylene glycol as a poison.

Interesting question. There is fluoride in most toothpastes and there also a heated debate over it. Some say it is poison and some they that's baloney. Here's the site for you so you can read about it. http://www.douglassreport.com/reports/fluoride.html?gclid=CMn3nKDSgo0CFRaChgodD1T1ig

toothpaste made in america has no poisons or toxins, the manufacture is strictly controlled and government standards have to be met.
But, other countries are not so careful, a recent recall of Chinese made toothpaste proves that.
