Like in baseball, everytime I go up to bat, I do the quick cross thing, and do a quick prayer. I never go to church so I know I really dont deserve it. Is it a sin if like you pray for dumb small things like this? And I know this sounds extremely not right, but if like someone strikes out, I kind of think god has a role in it. Is this all a bad thing?

I dont expect an outcome, i just get mad when something doesnt go right and sometimes blame it on him.

I used to do that sort of..when practicing basketball.....If I make this shot, I save the world from WW3. If I miss, the world will end. :) Silly me just daydreaming LOL.

Anyhow, as a believer in Jesus, it is good to depend on God for everything. That doesn't mean to just sit on a chair and move, if and only if, and when and only when God tells you loud and clear.

God wants you to live your life, but to live it for Him. He wants you to go on and life your life for Him, however, and not for our own selfish desires.

It sounds like you are aware of God, and that He is watching over you, which He is. God loves and cares for you, baseball and all. You haven't gone any further, however, than to sort of talk to God, only when you need Him for something, sort of like a good luck charm. God really wants a relationship with you, and the way you talk/pray to him is good, but he wants more of you...actually all of you!

Pray about it, and ask Jesus/God truly into your heart, and He will slowly reveal His love for you. You will slowly grow in your relationship with Him after that, and He will continue to show you how He wants you to live your life for Him. :)

Good luck with baseball and God Bless!
Mike
PS - I'll keep you in my prayers. You seem to be a really good kid! :)

It isn't a sin to pray for little things the bible says to seek God in all that you do, in his eyes if its important to you it's important to him it doesn't matter the size. When you say things go wrong you blame God, but things may not be going wrong, they're going wrong according to your standards, God has a bigger plan for your life. At the end of your prayer you should say "if it's God's will let it happen" no matter what it is, because if it's not his will then no amount of prayer will change it. And except the outcome. Also if you don't go to church then your not seeking after him, you can't just ask him to do something for you when your not serving him in the first place. If you want the serenity prayer just ask, it's kinda about what you asked.

You depend upon God for everything already, seeing as the whole creation is dependent upon him for its substinance. However, within the system of the material world, you have free will. You have access to God's word, and you have your own dman mind.

If you think that God is going to interfere with your free will, or anybody else's free will you are mistaken.
If you believe that God would interfere with a baseball game to show bias towards you, then you are wrong.
God is totally fair. If you work at your baseball, you will get better. It is the same for everyone. The only thing that interfere's with one's progress is one's own good or bad Karma. Karma (or cause and effect) is an inherent part of God's design in the material world and runs without God's hand on the wheel.
Praying selfishly will not bring you anything but mind delusion.

It is not ok to depend on God for everything. He made us smart for a reason. If you pray for good luck, awesome.

Sins are to do things that you know are wrong whilst not caring. It is not a bad thing to believe in God, and why would he make someone strike out?

Youshould do what is in your ability then leave the rest 2 God. For example, if you are in a stranded in a sea, and you see a boat come by, you should get in it and not go instead "help!, I will get recued by God himself or else drown!" Because God sent the boat in the first place. Or, you should not jump off a cliff and expect to be rescued. Another example is, you shouldnt not study for a test and expect to do well, you should study as much as you can and leave the rest to God.
And ,no, it is not bad to pray to God for little things, because you are contacting Him and praying to Him, and that is what counts. Have faith in Him.

thinking like that can spoil your psychology. you need to work hard and put lots of effort into your life, even if you are blessed. if you pray all the time for small (relatively) insignificant things, you might forget that life itself consists of a series of struggles, big and small.

always maintain the mindset that you depend on god. if you do, then there is no real reason to pray in panic for small things all the time.

(please remember than I'm talking in a really general sense here. praying is always required, but it is easy to corrupt the idea if people just think of it as a last-minute safety net.)

Yes BUT WHAT HAVE YOU DONE FOR HIM. If it is me, me, me, then do not expect much. Do the will of God. He knows your needs but where is your obedience? Find a home church, learn his word, be baptized with the holy spirit, be obedient, preach the word to other people, do the will of God (Mark 16: 15 - 18) and show your self approved. IF you do these things you will see things of important happen to you, not a frivolous base ball game.

God IS interested in even the small things in our lives. There is nothing wrong in talking to Him for any and ALL things. He WANTS to be close to us and is delighted when we include Him in all our thoughts and all of our life. It does not matter if you don't go to church...He loves you just for you! But, we do need to be respectful in talking to Him...He is God Almighty!
