Buddha was a great man, who taught of peace and tranquility. His teachings were great, and i like some of them. I do not consider him a prophet or God, but i do consider him a great man with good intentions.

Im not Christian but i would like to answer this question if you dont mind...Buddha was born approximately 560 B.C. in Northern India. He sought to find out why the mind gets disturbed. He could not bear to see anyone suffering. Among the teachings of the Buddha to the world was "Ahimsa" (not causing harm to anyone). He was a peaceful man. He believed in...
1. No killing
2. No stealing
3. No sexual misconduct
4. No lying
5. No intoxicants
I say he was a very good man.

Son of what was essentially a feudal lord, a prophecy was that either he would be a great general or would change the world. His father wanted to hide him away from all suffering so that he would become a general, but eventually he saw the truth of suffering. He wondered what to make of it, and came up with the Four Noble Truths, the last of which was the 8 fold path of right livelihood, right speech, etc.
On a secular level his teachings are beneficial, but offer no real supernatural or spiritual help. They could assist someone, but not ultimately save them.

I am not Christian, but I think he was a wise man. I had to get into his teachings a little bit and read "Siddhartha" by Herman Hesse for a report once.
I am not Buddhist, either. I have no religion, because all religions are the same. Christianity is the worst because it is a cop-out. Jesus' teachings and the Buddha's teachings are nearly identical...but the Buddha was first.

A large drinking vessel filled with booze, usually called the "Smiling Buddha". If you rub his belly you might get lucky.

Interesting fellow. But looking "in" at the creation instead of looking "out" at the Creator is doing things back-asswards.

I know he was a prophet...and if I am thinking of the right person, wasn't he a prince? or am I thinking of the hindu guy?
Anyway. I know he ISNT fat like everyone thinks. but Buddha isn't just his name, it is the term for anyone who is fully spiritually aware...or something like that....
And I know he taught his followers to not have material posessions...

I am not a christian, but from what I know, he was an Indian prince who in his teens, left his family and kingdom to become enlightened. He wanted to know the true meaning of life.
