If you want another lhasa, adopt another one or go to a reputable breeder and buy one. I'm sure you'll love the new dog just as much, even if they aren't your dog's puppy.

I don't think you should breed her. While most of her bad attitude towards other dogs is probably due to her not being socialized to them as a puppy, it may also have a genetic component to it. There are too many sweet unwanted dogs dying in shelters to justify breeding a dog with a bad temperament and potentially passing that bad attitude on to the puppies. Furthermore, if your dog is aggressive towards other dogs there is no guarantee that she won't become aggressive towards her own puppy once that pup reaches adult-hood. Some of the worst dog fights I've seen have involved dogs that were related to each other (a parent and puppy or siblings).

You're only 13, and you have your whole life ahead of you to enjoy many other canine companions (not to mention that you'll soon be moving out, off to college or into the work force, and may have to give up your dogs for a while as you adjust to adult life). Don't worry about having another puppy to take care of right now!

You can work with your dog on making her behave better around other dogs (that should be at least as much work as raising a puppy if not more!). Click to Calm by Emma Parsons, Fight! A Practical Guide to the Treatment of Dog-Dog Aggression by Jean Donaldson, and Aggression in Dogs: Practical Management, Prevention & Behavior Modification by Brenda Aloff are all excellent books to help get you started on making your lhasa apso more dog-friendly. Once you have her over her aggression towards other dogs, then you can consider bringing home a new puppy.

What do you mean you have the time to care for puppies? You do go to school, don't you? What if someone has to handfeed the babies every hour on the hour? Can you stay up all night? Can you skip school?

You haven't a clue. People here have responded with mature answers for your consideration and you can't even be bothered to think seriously about what they are saying. You just ramble on and on.

And what about the monetary responsibility? When was the last time you took the animals that you have now to a vet? When were their teeth cleaned? You need to take care of what you have before you create more problems so don't breed your dog! I am sure that at 13 years of age YOU are not the one who is paying the bills for all this!

In my county there are four animal shelters. Each shelter takes in approximately 33 animals every day. That's 132 animals DAILY, over and over and over, never stopping even on weekends and holidays. They have to destroy most of them because there simply aren't enough cages, food and homes for them all. They have to, otherwise they'd be hip-deep in them in a very short time. And you want to ADD to this problem!

At 13 you have neither the judgement nor the maturity nor the earning capacity to be responsible for these puppies. You would impress people more with how 'grownup' you are if you stop expressing yourself in such a childish manner and start thinking about what is best for the puppies - instead of your own selfish desires.

And for heaven's sake, please learn proper spelling (there IS a spell checker available) and use punctuation. That is also part of being a responsible adult; so you can communicate rationally.

First off, I think you should buy a new keyboard that had a period button!!

Secondly - do have any clue how many homeless dog there are out there that are euthanized every day because of people like yourself that want to add to the pet overpopulation problem? If your dog had six puppies, for example, six other puppies would be put to death because that's six less homes for them. Do you really want this on your conscience? At at 13 - I highly doubt you have any source of income. Puppies are expensive - they require several series of shots. They also can have health issues. The mother dog while pregnant could have health issues. Do you have a few thousand bucks in the bank to cover this? No.

Quit stressing over the fact that your dog isn't going to live forever - none do. It's a fact of life. When your dog is gone, adopt another dog from a shelter. Now go tell your parents that you need to get your female spayed.

I understand how much you love you dog. She may be a very good mother, but the chances are that she will have more than one puppy. What are you going to do with the rest of them. Most people won't get a puppy if the mother is very aggesive twords other dogs. She may not even allow a male near her.

I suggest you go adopt a puppy and let you dog mother you new puppy. This way you are saving a life and still having your dog raise the new puppy.

I hope you find this a resonable solution to you problem.

I'll put this in the least rude way possible:
Many dogs out there have been abused and had a rough start in life, so try visiting your local shelter. There are many nice puppies there at about 6 months old who are great dogs. Secondly, think of this: Your dog has 8 puppies. Those puppies aren't spayed or neutered. Those puppies have puppies. This chain goes on and on. Then your responsible of hundreds and thousands of dogs. So, what you meant to only be responsible for 1 or two puppies, it turns into many dogs being abandoned and mistreated, and if you wanted the best for these puppies you wouldn't breed.

You sound like you just want people to answer you with what you want to hear. Why even ask if you are not willing to listen to what is wise? You are 13. What you described about your dog IS aggression. It is not good to breed a dog like that. Your reasons for wanting another dog is selfish and greedy. If you love her, you will love her until she is old and gone and learn to wait until the right time to have another puppy. Since you are 13 you are probably old enough as a responsible young person to make a little money. Save it up and you can get you another pup one day. It doesn't cost a whole lot to adopt one at a rescue.

I think the only reason why you want to breed you dog is because you want "cute little puppies running around your house freely". Well im sorry, but there is a lot of responsibility that goes into breeding. You cant just breed your dog with just any dog of the streets. You probably wont be able to breed your dog unless she is registered with a kennel, and has a good pedigree. The cost is also a lot more than your able to afford. Stud dogs cost just as much as adopting an expensive dog if not more. If you want a good sire to your puppies, then youd be paying from $500-$1,000. People arent just going to buy a poorly bred dog. If you dont even know how to find a sire for your puppies, then you have NO CLUE about a pregnant dog and newborn puppies.

PLEASE do more research on this subject. You obviously have no clue what to do and your only doing this to have more puppies to play with. Go to a local shelter and foster a mother dog with newborn puppies so you can gain some experience before you try it on your own.

If your dog is aggressive with other dogs, she might pass on a bad trait to her puppies. She could also be agressive with the stud dog and things could be bad. Do some research on this subject before making aby decisions. If everybody WHO HAS HAD EXPERIENCE, is telling you that its not the right time for you to do this, then listen to them. This is a very tiring a stressful time for you and your dog. Its not as easy as you think.

The cost of all of this is also VERY VERY EXPENSIVE. You have to pay for the stud dog, which is way out of your budget, you have to pay for all of the vaccinations and shots and papers for each puppy, and you have to pay for all the food and supplies for about 6 more puppies.

If I were you, I would just go to a local shelter and adopt. I know you want to breed your lhasa apso, but its just not a good time for you. Your dog has a long life ahead of her.

PLEASE WAIT UNTIL YOUR DOG IS MORE THEN 3 YEARS OLD. SHE IS STILL IN HER PUPPY STAGE AND YOU NEED TO WAIT UNTIL SHE IS AN ADULT BEFORE EVEN THINKING ABOUT BREEDING HER.

Well good luck!

The main reason people are saying not to breed, besides your age, is you do not want to breed bad traits. And since she is dog aggressive, that is a bad trait that will or can pass on to her pups. It may seem like an easy thing to do but what would you do if she would not feed or take care of them? It takes alot of time & money to raise puppies & if you end up having to feed them because she won't, you're obligated for 24/7 for at least 8 weeks or more. Also, since she is dog aggressive, how do you expect to breed her? She'll likely go after the male & no responsible person will take the chance of their male getting injured. You may think she's a loving dog but not with her aggression issues. Please do not breed her, get her spayed. It's best to go to an animal shelter & save 1 from the gas chamber.

Since you can't spell correctly, sound like you are completely uneducated and are WAY too young to be responsible for a litter of puppies, you should have your dog spayed.

Your dogs hates other dogs, you are worried about her attacking and killing other dogs, why would you want this dog to be a mother? You are 13 - in school all day (theoretically, although from your spelling perhaps you are not). You don't have the time for puppies, you probably don't have the money for prenatal care (look that word up for yourself), and you definitely won't have the money to take care of possibly 8 puppies. You do know that dogs have MORE than one puppy don't you.

SPAY your dog!

So you want the puppies for yourself? Why don't you just adopt a dog from the pound rather than bringing more puppies in to the world? Are you aware that every time your dog is bred you are putting her at risk of death, along with the death of the puppies. What do your parents have to say about your desire to breed her? Truthfully, if she's snappy toward strange dogs, then when the puppies grow up, she may do the same to them. For all you know, she could try to kill the puppies as soon as they are born. Meanwhile, what happens as you age and have less time for your dogs? What if she ends up having a lot of puppies? I know you want to be around more dogs, but have you thought about volunteering at a shelter where there are lots of dogs and puppies to play with. Please reconsider before you breed your dog, because not only is it a lot of responsibility, but you'll be bringing more dogs into an extremely overpopulated world.
