I don't think you have something terrible, I think you lack something wonderful. Discussing faith with an atheist, is much like discussing sculpture with a blind person. They're not really going to understand, until they can feel it...

But I have to refrain from giving you that particular insight, it's forbiden to enlighten the innocent. By innocent, I mean to say you sound guilt free...

An atheist is one who believes there is no God.

As a Christian (monotheist), I know where other monotheists like other Christians, Jews, and Muslims are coming from. I know at least the basis for their standards of morality.

I even know somewhat where Hindus, Buddhists, and other "Eastern" religions are coming from.

But this is not the case with Atheists. Each one has to assemble his own code of morality. What does each one think is good and evil? And why?

What if some important thing to me like the dignity and value of human life is not valuable to him or her?

This unknown quality of Atheists is what creates fear in some Theists.

With love in Christ.

Atheists simply don't believe in any deities. The whole notion of atheists being "evil" is nothing but bombast from the pulpit by hypocritical fundamentalist preachers living the good life off the tithes and donations of the deluded and gullible people they hold in thrall using a work of fiction and threats of an imaginary afterlife.

I am atheist, humanist, rationalist and materialist. So for me this word means simply the lack of belief in god or gods. Only that.

Well, you're correct--and what do you care what other people think, especially if they've got the wrong idea?
