I have been to an otometrist; he just gave me "liquid tears" to put in 4 times a day.

Unfortunately blepharitis is a condition that antibiotics won't do any thing for. Your optometrist should have educated you on this. Lid hygiene is of utmost importance and must be done daily. When you shower use a CLEAN washcloth, dab a little baby shampoo on it, close your eyes and gently clean your lids. Both upper and lower. You can also purchase SteriLid or OCuSoft lid scrub at any drug store. Liquid tears should help to keep your eye moist and comfortable. Web MD has a good site for this condition you should check it out.

Blepharitis is a chronic disease for which there is no cure, and requires long-term treatment to keep it under control. Treatment consists of 2 phases (Acute phase and Maintenance phase). Acute phase treatment involves intensive therapy to rapidly bring the disease under control. In the maintenance phase the goal is to indefinitely continue the minimum amount of therapy that is necessary to keep the disease quiet.
