Actually, over the last 3-4 years, at least 7 of my friends left the country to work overseas (most ended up permanently moving after trying it out) to places like Moscow, Dubai, Shanghai, etc. (Most were born in those countries). They are doing beyond great, far greater that they could ever dream here.

If the American economy fails, the world economy will fail. In all seriousness, if the American economy failed, there would be absolutely nowhere to run. The US the the financial base for the majority of the worlds industrialized nations. Another Great Depression would be the end of America. It has become too large for the government to contain the depression like it did in the 30s. The world would fall economically, and thus, war would break out. The well-being of the US economy is vital to world peace.

If the US economy fell and therefore other countries no longer had American corporations exploiting them, the third world might actually get a chance to become rich. But the U.S. economy probably will not fail in our life time.

Thousands of years ago, the entire world was supported by the riches from the India, people gave their life to find way to get to India. Arab Trader who used to bring the goods from India sell to Europeans kept the land route to India a secret for many years.
Finally Europeans found a way to India and pludered its wealth and left it a country we all call aThird World Nation.
Today US is the richest country, by the time we run this nation dry there will be Mars or beyond :)

You underestimate American fortitude. We are a nation of people who love entrepreneurial escapades. For every business that goes oversees or shuts down, there are 3 more waiting in the shadows for an opportunity. I'm not saying our economy is fail-safe -- it obviously is not. But there are many of us who would do everything we can to keep this nation going.

Bigger economies have fallen?
Your question is obviously false starting from that premise. The US is the biggest economy that has ever existed, therefore it is impossible for bigger economies to have fallen in the past.
But to answer your question, we wouldn't run anywhere. We'd make our own new jobs right here.

When our economy went in the dumpster during the great depression, Americans didn't run anywhere. We took care of each other, and we made great leaders of otherwise normal men. Also, during the great depression, we chased millions of illegal migrant Mexicans out of the country. They were taking jobs that Americans would do !!!!!

Yes, there is a chance that our economy may fail, but for a clue look to our behavior during the Great Depression of 1929, did not run away, we stayed and with our government and our people we remained strong

If the American economy goes down, the world goes down. We are the economic engine of the world.
Think Great Great Great Depression.
Or Dark Ages.

If the USA economy goes down, there will be no jobs to go to. Self-survival skills will be important. Do you have any?
