IMHO, it's a manners and education thing. We shouldn't immediately assume that, because a person has an M.D. title, this person is automatically well-mannered and educated.
There's no pretext for bad manners and rudeness. The best doctors I've ever seen, NEVER have been the "loud" ones, as you comment. Only the not-so-good doctors have been the rude and ill-mannered ones, whose talk with other patients you can hear.
All good doctors I've seen, don't even let the patients stay close to their office when they are in consultation with another patient, so it is virtually impossible for you to hear anything they say to the current patient, no matter if they scream their guts out.
In other words, normally the best doctors --also the well-mannered ones-- have a waiting room totally isolated from the consultation room.
Of course, this is just an opinion based on my own personal experience with doctors.

No! Every doctor I have had spoke SO softly I could not make out anything they said!
I switched doctors recently, and my doctor speaks in such a loud tone everyone can hear all my embarrassing details, but guess what/? I don't care! Cause for once.. I can hear him!!! At least now I can resolve my problems.
If I have an embarrassing problem I'd rather have everyone I don't know hear about it than never be able to fix it.. Embarrassing problems are even more embarrassing when someone sees it, rather than when someone hears about it..

I noticed this also, but I figured my doctor talks so loud because he has a lot of elderly patients who are hard of hearing.

Some of their patients may be hard of hearing. Or maybe they talk load in order to speak clearly so that the patient understands what they're saying. I don't know...I've never really noticed that before.

Probably they are dictating on the Dictaphone to record the case for Transcription and filing of medical records of the patient.

They want you to feel embarrased. That's why they talk too loud, anyone can hear whatever he/she is saying. =(

Possible there is alot of noise where they are and their talking over it ? There are people who would be embarrassed to know they're private matters aren't private. I just figure they don't know me from Adam, to them I am just a chart. Out of sight , out of mind.
