PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. — The sheriff’s department has developed a remarkably effective — and controversial — way of catching illegal immigrants: Deputies in patrol cars pull up to a construction site in force, and watch and see who runs.

Those who take off are chased down and arrested on charges such as trespassing, for cutting through someone else’s property, or loitering, for hiding out in someone’s yard, or reckless driving, for speeding off in a car.

U.S. immigration authorities are then given the names of those believed to be in this country illegally.

Great Idea!

I find it not much different than a drug sting or busting prostitutes or sending in underage plants to bust the busy cashier who thought they looked old enough to buy beer but didn't card them. Funny how they can bust you for tresspassing on private property but can't manage to do the country's border. Why they can't bust them for loitering at a home depot or any other made-up work site.....or driving while intoxicated or having too many children unbuckled in a truck. A whole host of crimes they've been doing all along the rest of us get busted for. HINT.....they aren't being "targeted" they just don't abide by many of our laws. We know better.....they obviously don't or don't care to obey them either.

This is no different that any checks we all go through from time to time. Try pulling out of a license check stop and running away.....they are on you big time. They set up breathalizer check points right outside bars. All of us are targets in one way or another every single day. I'm put in a system and checked if I'm pulled over. Ya ain't in Mexico anymore......this is how they do things here.

Strange that they'd have to go through stunts like that just to enforce a simple law.
