Positives:

1. Beautiful skyline

2. EXCELLENT culture, nighclubs, resteraunts, museums, clubs, etc, shopping.

3. Very easy to navigate, most roads in the 5 boroughs are symettrical.

4. Culture; always things to do

5. Subway

6. Economy, Jobs a plenty!

Negatives:

1. VERY high cost of living

2. Traffic (though not as bad as L.A, and you can use the Subway)

3. Pollution, plus Manhattan is an island so a lot of bad smells come from the river.

4. Terrorism, though VERY rare, is a major control and can mean alot of road checkups and searches

5. Parking

6. A lot of taxi's, etc, can be hard to sleep.

7. Overcrownding

8. Gangs an crime are more common than more less rural areas, but is still the safest american city with a population of over 1 million.

9. City education isn't the best education, but private schools are better. It REALLY deonds on where you live. Staten Island has far better grades than the Bronx.

NY is like no other city in the world. It's fascinating, and fun, and there's tons of culture, great food, shopping, etc ... even upstate is gorgeous.

Downside is that it's cold in the winter, and it's expensive, and it's not always easy to find a job.

-- densely populated / crowded
-- high-paying jobs
-- lots of demand for the jobs
-- lots of educational opportunities
-- diverse population in every way
-- fast-paced lifestyle
-- easy to get around by public transit and walking
-- shortage of "nature", quiet open spaces, etc.
-- crime, civil liberty repression in the name of fighting crime, etc.
-- high rents and mortgages for relatively small living spaces
-- air pollution, esp. ozone

i never visit new york, only in movies, i think the best is central park , and the worst is the apple, been bitd already.
second hand apple, hope is still tasty, and green in red.
