I mean gas mileage. I'm planning for a trip and want to know how much to budget for gas.

That depends on many factors. My 93 Tempo has a Manuel transmission, I don't drive it real hard (aggressively), and the combination of city/hwy miles gets me 29 mpg.

Finding your mileage is simple. The next time you fill your car with gas write down how many miles are on your odometer. The 2nd time you fill up with gas, again record your mileage (from your odometer) and also record the number of gallons of gas you filled up with (the 2nd time). It is important that when you fill up with gas both times that you let it fill until the pump shuts off automatically. So don't top-it-off.

To figure mileage- subtract your 2nd fill-up 's miles from the 1st fill-up's miles. Then divide the answer by the number of gallons of gas you used at the 2nd fill-up and you'll have your own mileage.

You can do that every time you fill up and always know what mileage you're getting.

20-30 miles per gallon, if the car is well maintained that's what my 1990 Ford Escort got before the body gave out....
