...given that any claims to be the Son of God are very likely to be considered heretical by the religious establishment of any Christian denomination.
I am aware that Bahá'u'lláh claimed to be the Second Coming of Christ.
This is a question that I first asked my parents as a child and have never received a satisfactory response to it. I must add that I no longer believe in God but would be interested in your answers - just please don't religiously spam me; how would you actually know that you were following the true Son of God and not actually (partially) deserting Him by following a false prophet?

Jeff C: gee whizz, I'd better join your
club then, hadn't I? Anyway, peace be upon you, you are entitled to your belief that I will burn (or rot?) in Hell because I don't believe. That belief sounds just like Christ's teachings to me. Judge not lest ye be judged, let him who is without sin cast the first stone etc. Good luck with promoting the words of a peaceful man as a snazzy hate-filled package.

Scripture is clear: "Every eye shall see Him." There will be no doubt.

It would be just as people have calling to be priests, people know when they meet their one true love etc... Listen to yourself your own true heart and the answer lies there. Also we focus too much on material events rather than the subtle affects so he would probably go un noticed. Why? When did compassion move a nation? Destroy an enemy? Or revolutionize an economy these days? It wont happen because we are all too mundane in our thoughts!

Thats why even if he is here right now it wouldnt hit the news. Just as in the bible he went around as bit of a local event but nothing amazing. At the time it is recorded he was just *another* religious nut in Isreal. Nothing special in regard to the Roman Empire. Also general good will is almost completely discarded now.

That is a good question , but I don't think I have an answer for it.
If I thought Jesus came back and started telling people then I might get locked up in the loony bin. (a possibility without the religious rantings),
but I think (my opinion) that when it happens, there will be all the children of the world "missing" and there will be a few adults "missing" and the ones left behind will probably call up the prez and say we need to mount an attack on the "aliens" who stole our children.

Since you no longer believe, there is no reason to throw a million verses at you, book and number - it's this simple:

First - He said he will come a thief in the night, no one will ever know the exact date and time until he shows himself.

Second - He said he will come with a trumpet sound and split the eastern sky, riding on a Cloud of Glory (I believe this means with Angels shouting) and every eye will behold him.

Third - He will raise the bodies of all who have died and reunite them with their spirits and give them a Glorified Body.

Fourth - He will then raise all those that remain (living) that have accepted him as their own personal savior, giving them a Glorified Body.

The Bible says this will happen in the blink of an eye. I believe that means, no warning, no predicted day or time - just BLAME - He is here! Then every knee shall bow and every tongue confess that: "Jesus Christ is Lord" - meaning you will see the proof with your own eyes.

I don't believe in any rapture, but it doesn't have any barring on my salvation and seems to me the second coming already happened in the studies I have conducted by myself....

I think that if you have a strong relationship with God outside of the church as we know it today you ought to have some discernment and would know who was who if claims were being made...I myself am a tester of what is said to me by any man ..Have I failed at some point probably but I get put back on track. And every passing year you should be growing and learning the character and principals of Christ and his will for you ..... Let me tell you sometimes it isn't easy or fun but the bigger picture and the reward at the end has to be better then this life here on earth!

Some just don't understand long suffering and counting the cost that a true conversion can bring..... But I believe my short time here of suffering wont out weight what's at my ending...

I am Wiccan who believes strongly in the Christian God. Your question is a real fear to me as well. I believe, because I can have a two way communication with God, that I will know if it is not him, as I know his voice. I can only pray. But I already know that God loves me more than I am even capable of loving, so I will be okay. I think that as God loves us all in this way, He will make sure His children will be okay. Now if they are evil all the way through and do not want to change, what should God do?

Blessed Be

When Jesus returns the Bible says, 'That every eye will see Him'. That's one clue. Another is that all the Christians will have disappeared, 'in the twinkling of an eye'.

To know that you were following the true Son of God, invite Him into your heart then stand back and watch the supernatural transformation that will take place within you.

Jesus said that there will be false prophets and many will claim to be Him...But He also warned us not to be fooled by them. If you hear that He is out in the desert, don't go out there to see...He won't be there....

He says, that in the second coming "ALL WILL SEE" as the heaven's open up we will all see Him descending with a host of angels. You won't have to ask how will I know, there will be absolutely no doubt whatsoever. You will know, all will know and "every knee will bow"...

Hm, from the top of my head, the book of Revelations (part of the Christian New Testament) would say that

- everybody will see him at the same time, no matter which part of the earth they live in
- everybody will recognise him
- everybody will even "bow their knee" i.e. realize that he is not just a human being, but the absolute God

No man will know the hour of the return and those that claim to are false prophets.

I'm not a member of your religion, but I'd have to think that if a person of deep spirituality appeared, something in you would recognize that. It wouldn't be a thought process, but a deep response at the core of your being.
