..only in the south.

you can only divorce somebody you're married to. if you want to legally free yourself from your parents, thats called emancipation.

you can read about it here:

Yes, this act is called Emancipated Child. Usually occurs if the child has money that the parents are not capable of maintaining, in the opinion of the child. Child actors would fall under this category. Obviously they are not allowed to do this until the age of 18 or so, according to state laws.

The first poster was right. Its called emancipation. It does more then legally seperating you from you family. Lets say you are 16 and do it, it makes you a legal adult. So anything that somebody that is 18 can do like apply for a loan, you can do as well.

You have to be emancipated by a judge.

In very rare cases, children can apply to a court to become an emancipated minor. Usually you get a sort of guardian for a time and your parents are no longer your legal guardians. Very difficult to establish.

It's a pretty serious thing. A child cannot just decide that they don't want to be with their parents anymore. The child needs to prove that his or her parents are unfit (i.e. don't provide for you, don't take care of you, etc). Do a search for "emancipation laws" and your state to learn more.

Also keep in mind though...this is a SERIOUS thing. You are going to potentially damage your relationship with your parents for the rest of your life if you even attempt to get emancipated.

Well I have heard of it,but don't know if anyone has actually done that..IT WOULDN'T REALLY MATTER...you'll still be related to the day you die,so what's the point in making life more difficult..Saying that, umm you really have to prove in court why you want to divorce your parents.

Yes but there's got to be a special reason. For example if your parent's abuse you or neglect you could call social service and you would get new parents. If they are doing that to you get HELP N OW. Otherwise you might just have to deal with it.

Not really divorce them, but be emancipated from them. They become thier own gardian. but it takes a lot of work to get the court to consider that the kid would be better by themselves.
