Someone told me it would be on the right hand side towards the back and it's a round circle silver looking thing. Any help would be appreciated. This truck is nickle and dimeing me at the moment. thanks

The EGR valve is located on the drivers side of the upper intake manifold. It kind of looks like a mushroom located on metal tube coming up from the exhaust manifold, it will have a small vacuum hose on the top of it, probably green hose. Now why do you think the EGR valve is bad, it is kinda rare for a Ford EGR valve to fail.

Biker Trash is right where the location is.to test to to see if the EGR is the problem take a length of vacuum hose and hook it up to any vacuum source that gets constant vacuum and connect it to the vacuum inlet on your EGR. Run the vehicle and just put the vacuum line on the EGR while its running. If the engine stumbles and acts like it's gonna cut off the EGR if fine. If you're suspecting the Egr Because of a code there is a possibility that the Catalytic converters could be clogged.

Once again, I agree with bikertrash regarding the location of the EGR valve, as well as how rare EGR valves fail. I would like to add that if you are getting EGR codes, it is almost certain your DPFE sensor has failed. The only way to verify this is to connect a scan tool that enables access to live data, and access the DPFE volts data. It should read 0.5 to 0.99 volts with the engine at idle. If you see 4.99 volts, it means you need to replace the DPFE sensor, NOT the EGR valve. I also agree with whtsthislif4's method for testing EGR valve operation. The DPFE sensor is a Ford dealer only item. Go to any dealer parts department and ask for basic part number 9J460 to get the part you need. It is plastic with two differently sized rubber hoses connected to it, as well as a three wire electrical connector. Hope this helps.

Follow the pipe running up from the rear of driver side exhaust manifold. The EGR valve is located at the top of this pipe behind the upper intake elbow.
