my 6 year old went to school on the first day with a mohawk.
they are kids. it's just hair. it's no big deal. and if people think that I am a "bad parent" because I let joshua have a mohawk... then screw them. I'm more of a parent than they will ever be because i know parenting is not about what "other people" think of my kids hair.
let him do it.

For the summer. Don't shave the sides, just give him a buzz cut and leave the mohawk longer. Then in the fall you'll just buzz the top. Explain to him ahead of time that this will only last until school starts.

My son (8) did this last year... Summer is the perfect time. We cut the sides of his hair with about a #3 or 4 clipper then left the top long. When school started it was really easy for the stylist to clean up the back and sides and cut the top into a short spikey crew cut. I just made sure not to go to short on the sides because school pictures are in the fall.

M son is 6 and also begged for a mohawk, but he doesn't like shaved heads so we gave him a fo-hawk with highlighted red tips instead, he loves it and its only for the summer. let him have some fun. good luck.

I would say try to let you give him a fauxhawk. If he doesnt agree, then just give him a buzz cutt on the sides and a short mohawk. Its summer, and it shouldnt take to long to grow back.
Also, fauxhawks can be styled differently, so it doesnt have o be that way every day. I think they look cool, but still appropriate and sofisticateed

Sure, why not? Its summertime. If you dont feel comfortable with a full blown mohawk.....get him a "fo-hawk". The hairdresser will know what it is. I tried to get my son to want a mohawk but he wasnt havin it lol. Let him experiment a little :) Good luck!

Yeah, go ahead, get it now and set a date to have the rest trimmed off and restyled--early enough to grow it back out to a normal look by the start of school!

my cousin just gave her son a mohawk. it is so cute. do it for the summer at least. if you don't like it, then you can shave it off before school starts. at least let him have it for the summer. it's just hair, it won't hurt anything. it will grow back. no big deal.

Sure. I don't see the harm. He is 6 and thinks it's fun so I'd do it. Even if you don't shave the sides completely, you can do a fade cut and spike the top with gel so it's a little more modern looking. I don't see the harm.
