The next day was the same, but the day after that, the lymph nodes in my groin were swollen. The bite was about two inches in diameter, with a dark spot in the middle like a blood blister, surrounded by a light red, uneven circle. It was on my right upper butt cheek, so whatever it was bit through my shorts and underwear, or crawled up my shorts and bit through my underwear. I ended up taking antibiotics and the swelling went down. Four weeks later, my skin is smooth but still discolored. The doctor said I had some skin loss. It doesn't bother me anymore, but I'm wondering, what the heck was it? I live in the northeast and we don't have the brown recluse or black widow. I never felt a thing when it bit/stung me. Doctor thought some kind of spider, but I'm not sure because it bit through clothes. Any thoughts? Thanks so much for all your help.

The doctor said because my lymph nodes were swollen, it must be infected. So I took Zithromax for five days and the swelling in the lymph nodes went down. The funny thing is, the bite didn't seem so bad, didn't get that big, but the swollen lymph nodes were a pain! Thanks for answering.

Sounds exactly like what I had on my arm last summer and mine was a spider bite. It was not a brown recluse but, beyond that, there was no way to determine what type of spider it was. Yes, spiders can bite through clothing.

I'm glad you are better. The discoloration will go probably away (mine did) but it will take a long time.

It might have been an assassin bug. Their bites can be pretty nasty, and their venom isn't at all pleasant. Did your doc put you on AB's because of a secondary infection due to the bite?

prolly was a spider of some sort that has a necrotic venom, and most likely it bit you while you were active so you wouldn't of felt a thing
