Because it IS God's word, don't take it out of context. You have scriptures before and after that need to be addressed, as well as original Hebrew to look up and confirm. Most do not of the above in order to cause problems.

You are correct in thinking this for many professed Christian views are doctrines of men and when you show a contradictive Scriptural view you can be assured that the Bible is right. 2 Tim 3:16, We can't have it two ways, either trust in God's word or quit worshiping for it is in vain that you do.
Professed Christianity is a house divided in these last days other wise there wouldn't be any conditions. Men and women a like go to their different churches and listen to there leaders, but they never test the words or ideas being proclaimed. That's why you can find these contradictions.
There are a few people out here that do follow the Holy Bible and make adjustments in their thinking so they can help others come to an accurate knowledge of God's instructions. If you have any personal questions feel free to ask or test them. gemhandy@gmail.com

Its a cold world, theres a lot of meaness... if we were alllllll athiest (which I'm not) it would still be cruel and mean and cold. So whats the problem with the few of us that have found a way to institute some mercy and peace into our lives.. There was a time that athiest made the rest of the world feel like the rest of us were perpetuating our beliefs on them... now that athieism is taking hold, most of the athiest come across brash, hateful, mean and cruel? So my question is how is that athiesm working out for you..?
To be softer in my answer... When I prayed for understanding of the scriptures... I got it... thats how God works.

That's because context of a passage defines the correct interpretation.
A perfect example is "Judge not, lest ye be judged." from Matthew 7:1.
That is thrown in our faces repeatedly. Yet a closer look and study of the entire passage (through to verse 23) reveals an entirely different command, other than to not judge other people.
The passage in effect tells us not to use a double standard when we do judge and discern people.

God's word is true. The problem is that it is not always interpreted correctly. Hopefully, when a Christian quotes a verse he is sure of his interpretation. Let's call him an informed Christian.
When the informed Christian challenges your interpretation it should be based on a correct interpretation.

INTERPRETATION is the key word, it seems no one has the same view on just about anything these days. If it is not simple and fact leave it alone or for those of greater understanding in that particular field of expertise. This is of course my opinion.

Quoting Scripture when you have no concept of what Scripture says is a dangerous thing, and Christians are more guilty of it than anyone. Theism, or more specifically monotheism is a strong theme in Scripture, even though some are confused with how this relates to the whole concept of the Trinity.

Why is it that when an unbeliever cites the bible he almost always cites it out of context because he has never really read nor understood nor studied his bible to find out what its about?
You should stick to science. Well okay your not that skilled in that either. Knowing facts isn't really understanding. Oh well. Go do whatever you do when you not being a pain in the back.

Let me be the first to say, you are right. And I'm a Christian. It does seem that people on this site are bad about that. However, please do not take a single verse or part of one out of context either. Read the verses around it and then determine for yourself what it means.

Because they're speshul that way. Only the people who agree with the conclusions they (or their pastors) have come to can possibly understand the real meaning of God's Word.
The Bible and statistics are about equal in their ability to be twisted around to prove just about anything.

I have found that more non-christians are interested in knowing what the Bible has to say. I have also noticed that many "so-called" Christians do not want to know or even think they have to know anything about the Bible or what it says.
