i learned it by watching my mom.. so i only know it by sight... but heres a web page all about it!!
http://www.redschocolategravy.com/
omg! there is a mix you can buy???!!!

Chocolate Gravy #2
1 cup granulated sugar
3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1/4 cup cocoa powder (Hershey's baking cocoa)
2 cups whole milk
4 tablespoons (1/2 stick) butter

In a heavy saucepan, combine the sugar, flour and cocoa with a whisk until no clumps of flour or cocoa remain. Whisk in the milk until well-combined. Heat over medium heat, whisking constantly, until the mixture begins to boil and then thickens like gravy, 5 to 10 minutes. Remove the saucepan from the heat and stir in the butter until it melts.
*never did put the butter in at the end... but mmmm will try it!!!
serve in a bowl and dip biscuits with butter in it and bacon too... or sausage... my uncles and brother put it over scrambled eggs... (dont know bout that one)

I'm sorry, but that sounds gross. Interesting, but gross.
To be honest, southern food makes me feel sick to my stomach just thinking about it. Not my cup of tea
