Actually, it's fairly uncommon for the MOH to make a toast. This is most often reserved for the Best Man.

In general, it's good to bring up a funny story or two, about yourself & your sister, but keep them brief. Once everybody has gotten a laugh, offer thanks to whomever is hosting the event, and offer a toast to the longevity and happiness of the marriage.

One that I like, which is fairly brief, is "May you always have love to share, health to spare, and friends who care."

There are a lot of other suggestions, if you look on the web. Just google "wedding toasts", and you'll get a bunch of different options.

I recently made a toast to my best friend at her wedding as maid of honor, but I think that's similar. I would start out with a memory, perhaps a funny one or something cute you and your sister did that pertains to love and romance. Wish her and her husband many happy years, say how happy you are for them. Keep it short and simple and you will feel a lot calmer about it.

I think only the best man has to make a toast. I've never been to a wedding where the MOH makes a toast.

ask your sister (the bride) if you will be expected to give a toast, some weddings do it, but some don't

If you do have to give one, just write a few of your favorite "cute" memories of growing up with your sister, don't include too much embarassing stuff. and then end by saying you love her and you are very proud of her and you are happy for her.

Just say nice things about your sister, your memories together.
Say how your sister and the hubby are going to have a great life together and what not.
Just remember to make the speech not boring..but exciting, memorable, humorous, and an attention getter.

Im in the same boat but the wedding is for my mom! I agree with others just allow it to come from your heart. Wishing them lifetime of happiness and that you love them! Good Luck!

one thing you could mention is how she acted when her and her future husband first got together. Like at the last wedding I went to, what was mentioned by the cousin was that they would stay up all night talking about how amazing the guy was. and her mom said when she got home from the first date she said "I think I'm gonna marry that boy!" it was cute, made her blush. try to think of something like that to say!

Tell something memorable from your childhood together, that always works. Then tell them both that you wish them the best for their marriage. Tell the groom (with a smile) that, even though your the younger sister, you'll kick his butt if he messes the whole thing up. congratulate them again.

Tell her that you wish her and her husband a lifetime of happiness and that you will still come to her for advice because she may be married, but she will always be your big sister.
